I don’t necessarily think so. If little midget Canelo could stop Kov,..there is no reason to think that Froch couldn’t hold his own
Froch woulda dribbles Kov all over the place. Calzaghe woulda dribbled Kov all over the place. Canelo Did dribble Kov all over the place
Froch... the same Froch who was dropped on his ass hard by Taylor and Groves, in his prime. Froch is not beating a prime Kovalev.
I think Froch takes too many clean shots to beat Kovalev. Kovalev vs Calzaghe would have been a more compelling match up.
A guy who lives a clean life and always trains hard like Froch is obviously going to go out in his career more gracefully than an alcoholic who was notorious for not liking to train like Kovalev. Doesn't change the fact that prime-for-prime, Kovalev was far better.
Kovalev-Ward 1 absolutely FINISHED Kovalev. I thought he won, but it was really close. Losing that fight was MASSIVE, it's actually hard to think of another boxing match in my lifetime where a couple of points either way changes the course of a career so much. I thought he won the first fight, I don't think anybody talks enough about the ending of the rematch either tbh. He was never the same after the A Ward fights, and it's a damn shame imo.
Been saying this a lot and I’ll say it again: I honestly think Kovalev’s career would have looked much different had he been given the decision against Ward in their first fight. He would have kept his focus and confidence and we might have even seen a fight with Adonis Stevenson. Kovalev could have likely stayed on top for a bit longer and perhaps might even seen a passing of the torch fights with Bivol or Beterbiev in the process. It’s honestly a damn shame that it took just one bad decision to completely change the trajectory of a fighters career path.
I think Kovalev’s drinking would have caught up eventually. Even if he had been given(rightfully) the decision in the first fight, I think Ward probably beats him in the rematch anyway.
Both Ward fights were disgraces. And yes, they made Kovalev bitter and disillusionned with boxing, which, IMO, contributed a lot to his steep decline.
Only an idiot would say stevenson was ducking him considering its kovalev team that refused to go to a purse bid (though you can can criticize Stevenson mightily for his putrid opposition between the two fonfara fights) But its no surprise coming from you
Not Only a Couple of Points, a Couple of INCHES!!!... The Right Hand Kovalev Dropped Ward w/was Landed as if Kovalev was KNOCKING On a Door..."Door Knocker Right Hand", as REED Calls It...Had Kovalev Adjusted the Right Hand Just a COUPLE INCHES, His Knuckles Make Contact Instead and Ward is KO'ed in REED's Opinion... Canelo Doesn't Go ANYWHERE Near Kovalev, if he KO's Ward... REED
The Bottom Line is Ward BROKE Kovalev... REED Also Thinks Kovalev WON the 1st Fight, But Ward PULLED Kovalev's Card in the RE, Undeniably...Ward EXPOSED Kovalev to the Body, Which We'd Heard Whispers of Triple G Doing in Sparring....Ward Went There & it Paid Off... Yes, Ward Landed LOW BLOWS In the Process, But He TOOK Kovalev's Spirit w/Him and Put it in his Back Pocket...& Kovalev MEEKLY Allowed it Happen... REED
Speaking of SK's retiring, has Stinger Karl retired from internet meet ups? I'm sure there are still Fightbeat members who can use a good set of rib roasters or one of his 18" pythons around their neck. But is that not a thing any more?
Stinger has focused his energy on his illustrious website that will revolutionize sports and entertainment online
