Passed away at age 87. He was a smooth pure boxer who had beaten Dick Tiger, Rubin Carter, and arguably Emile Griffith. Also beat a well past it Sugar Ray Robinson and sent him to permanent retirement. Not the most exciting fighter but a skilled technician nonetheless.
I thought Joey Archer BEEN dead! Wow. That's news to me. RIP to him though. Yes, he was indeed an excellent technician.
