How did you feel about his efforts against Inoue? Cardenas and his team did great and I can’t wait to see him fight again.
Despite Inoue’s obvious flaws that he’s now been showing these past few fights I still admire his level of composure and being able to still make adjustments immediately when he has to. Shows how adaptable and smart he is as a fighter. Pretty stoked to see his fight against MJ now. I think MJ feels more confident in his chances after seeing Inoue’s vulnerability showing.
I thought he did very well. I was really nervous that he might get blown out, you would have thought I was fighting Inoue, .
It's a beautiful thing. A few years back my friend had a fighter that he had trained from 10 years old, got him signed with Golden Boy and the fighter left my friend. He has worked hard for a long time for this.
Hopefully Cardenas is More LOYAL Than Your Friend's Last Fighter Was Because the MONEY/OPPORTUNITIES Are About to Change for that Young Man... Why Did Cardenas CUT His Kostya Tszyu-Ish Tail??? It was a Cool Look... REED
Inoue is getting some abuse but he's out here entertaining. He's taking risks that he doesn't need to take and showing an insane offense. He could fight in a less exciting and safer way like most fighters today do but he refuses to do that. Respect from me and I don't hold getting dropped against him. He showed a good chin, good recovery, champs mindset and heart. None of this no risk safety first bullshit we see from most modern day boxers.
Awesome fight! Watching saturday, i forgot why i watch boxing. It blew! Friday too. The Inoue fight reminded me why I watch. That jab of his is just punishing.
The same punch has dropped him twice now. A negative counter puncher like Rigo would be a problem based on that but I think Inoue would win that fight because he has more heart and grit and will fight to win whereas Rigo will fight to outslick and will be put into super negative mode. Inoues offence is just too potent and breaks everyone down. Getting dropped heavily, twice now, does make you have to take that into account when thinking about mythical matchups at 122 against the likes of Rigo, Morales, Barrera, Gomez
Inoue's a great fighter, but I at least wanna hear the end of guys proposing he might have beaten Gomez at 122. Wilfredo Gomez would have skull fucked Inoue.
A Bit Extreme Bruh... Yes, Gomez Should Be FAVORED Based on Size and His OWN Vaunted Firepower, But Let's NOT Pretend He was Unhittable, Had a Hagleresque Chin or that Inoue is Some SLOUCH Offensively...You Wanna Say Gomez BEATS Inoue, KO's Inoue, Cool... But "Skull Fucked"???...There's Literally NATHAN to Base That On...Even as the Naturally Smaller Man, Inoue is COMPETITIVE w/Wilfredo Gomez, @ WORST... REED
Tbf, Inoue is like 130ish on fight night. He definitely isn't the smaller man against Gomez. The real reason why Gomez should be favoured imo, is that Inoue's defence leaves a lot to be desired. It's not bad by any means, and he is capable of slipping and sliding with shots to take the damage out of them, but Gomez is not the guy to be getting caught against.
Modern Weigh-Ins Definitely LEVEL the Size Playing Field in a Way REED Hadn't Considered...He Afforded Gomez the BENEFIT of Size Because Inoue's Campaigned at LOWER Weights than Gomez Ever Did & Gomez was Champion as High as 130, Where Inoue Will Never Be... REED
Totally agree. It's a complete exaggeration. Especially when you consider that Gomez himself was in plenty of tough fights.
Gomez was NOT in plenty of tough fights at 122. That's just categorically false. Gomez had a grand total one 1 tough fight at 122 -- Pintor. And he was past his prime. Other than that, he won probably 99% of the rounds in his 122 reign, with the exception of dropping the first 2 rounds in his title winning fight against Yum. You're making up stuff, and I've called you out on that shit before with no reply. He was incredibly dominant at 122.
That wouldn't be the case if you gave Gomez a 24-hour weigh-in. Gomez was a thicker (no homo), broader shouldered guy than Inoue, and he was physically stronger.
But he did skull fuck Zarate, when he was in his physical prime. The jury is still out on if Inoue beats Zarate at 118, let alone Gomez at 122.
Inoue Can't Match Zarate's DEPTH @ 118, But He Beats Him Head to Head in REED's Opinion... Zarate was Tall (ie., a BIGASS Target) & He Wasn't Appreciably FAST or FLUID for a Lil' Guy...It's NOT Difficult Imagining a Guy w/Gomez's Bounce, Wiggle, Handspeed and POWER Exploiting Zarate... Nor is it Difficult Imagining Naoya Inoue Exploiting Zarate Similarly... REED
As leaky as Inoue's defense is, I'm not sold on it. Zarate had better technical skill, despite lacking the speed. And Zarate's resume at 118 is stronger.
For a seek and destroy fighter who kos pretty much everyone he faces, inoue has good enough defense. He gets hit about as much as Tyson got hit
