Anyone going to watch Johnny Infantino's club world cup? Can't say watching Al Qaeda play the Miami Globetrotters at 1am is very tempting

I wonder if these teams will incur a bit of a cost for not resting their players come winter

The explanation for that is simple - firstly, it was in Atlana, not LA. In other words, if it was Atlanta United vs Chelsea, the crowd would have been larger.

Also, the game started at 3pm on a Monday. Everyone is at work. People will take off from work for the WC next year, but not for this.

Moreover, LAFC was selected for the tournament last minute, so its not like their Cali fans had much time to prep cross-country travel.

Idiottino and his cronnies have no fucking brains.

Yeah sorry, my point isn't to impunge MLS fans here (I know that league usually gets good crowds) more just this tournament itself

I find a certain appeal to it. Its fun seeing clubs from across the globe face off imo.

For example, tonight you have Monterrey vs Inter. I'm sure that will be a huge crowd between the Mexicans and I-tals.

I was contemplating going to the Final next year since I live only 30 mins from Metlife Stadium.

The prices = Highway fucking robbery.

The novelty of watching a well supported Asian team against an Argentinian giant is fun but the quality of fairly iffy and some of the European teams look very off season...Dortmund sleep walked through the fluminense tie, and Chelsea were playing at testimonial pace

Yeah. In 2013, I saw Everton beat Juventus (on PKs) in San Francisco at the Giants stadium. Then saw Everton lose to Real Madrid (two goals disallowed with no explanation of why) at Dodger Stadium. . I also watched LA Galaxy beat Juventus but I was drunker than shit by then.

Ticket prices were around $100 a game. Back then over twice the price of a regular match in England.

The CHEAPEST tickets available at MetLife -- the upper level seats -- are going for around $600 each.

I've been to MetLife several times for NY Giants games -- no way in Hell I'm paying $1200-$1300 for nose bleed seats.

Quality seating is going for over $2000 per ticket.

FIFA are a bunch of goddamn criminals.

I'm gonna go out on a huge limb and say that Monterrey won't be able to hang with Inter.

Monterrey vs Inter is a good game. Easily the best game of the tournament thus far.

I saw Monterrey Vs Liverpool in the REAL Club Championship a few years ago and they really really gave Liverpool a great game.

I'm absolutely delighted that LAFC and Seattle Sounders are both getting embarrassed and are winless. MLS fanboys looovveeeee to ride the cocks of LAFC and Sounders; pretending like these are world class clubs.

Us Americans who aren't insane knew damn well that LAFC and Sounders couldn't compete at world level.

Only MLS club that's competitive out here is Miami, and quite obviously, that's only because of Messi.

They rebounded well, because it was only two years ago that they blew an absolutely enormous points lead to lose the Brazilian Serie A. I forgot how many points it was, but they were head & shoulders above the rest of the league and then bottled it and lost the league.

Since then, they've become a very strong club.

Holy shit, just read about their collapse after your post and that is the worst choke I can think of. Not only blowing the 13 point lead, but the amount of matches they lost from winning positions in stoppage time in the latter stages of the season is INSANE. If I was a fan it might have broken me :Jest:
