I'm roughly around your same height, only I'm an inch taller. Heaviest I've ever been in life was 230. Currently weigh around 205.
I generally hover at 200 because I'm surrounded by Polish people who think soup should have 500 calories per teaspoon and that bread is essential for life.
I was a good trajectory through most of last year, then hurt my back in June which kept me from going hard at the gym until this month. Getting back into the workout swings of things now. Getting older sucks.
Is it normal in the UK to not provide a cause of death unless it's considered suspicious (criminal) in nature?
The death certificate will reveal the cause of death but in practice it's very easy to provide accurately useless information "natural causes". Generally you can buy a death certificate. Like I say ....guy might have had a heart attack caused by oedema on the heart with fatty liver disease as can aggravating factor but the cert will sat "natural causes".
Well yeah i mean a guy could get chopped in half with a chainsaw and technically the cause of death is "cardiac arrest", but if it's a clear suicide or drug overdoes would that be released or would somebody need to get insider info?
Even some cases where it may seem obvious, there will need to be an inquest first. For suicide there needs to be proof of intent. There was a famous case here where the footballer Gary Speed died from hanging and it was recorded as an open verdict. Whilst he most likely meant it, they said there was a chance he tried to make a "dramatic statement" with the rope around his neck and fell asleep. They have to be careful because of the effects it may have on life insurance payouts etc.
Here i'm not sure if it's law, or if the media is just being careful. If someone is found hanging for example and there is no other obvious sign of foul play it would be reported as an "apparent" suicide typically.
There are two highly likely explanations. Either be deliberate killed himself (hanging sounds plausible) or he accidentally killed himself (drink + drugs = dead). He didn't die of old age, did he? MTF
Loved Hatton back in the day. Usually great entertainment and a great dig to the body. best thing about Hatton was all of the kick offs we’d have on here/secondsout about whether he was any good. The US fans hated him and thought he was garbage. Still think Joe was on the take for his fight with Floyd too. Wouldn’t have changed the result but we lost a much more interesting fight as a result.
The Independent on Instagram: "Boxer Ricky Hatton shared a video of his workout at his home gym, just days before his sudden death at the age of 46. Hatton’s death was announced on Sunday (14 September) after his body was found at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester. On Thursday, the boxer shared a video of himself training with punchbags, while on Friday he shared a video on his treadmill, telling his fans: “Another 5k, a good sweat on”. He captioned the video: “Evening run in the bag. Don’t you worry about that our kid.” The news of his death comes months after Hatton announced another return to boxing with a fight planned in December, against the UAE’s first-ever professional boxer Eisa Al Dah."
I have it on good authority that he hung himself. Supposedly got injured recently which set back the comeback. I have to say I always thought he was bullshitting about the "menfal elf" a la Fury but I feel silly now. He appears to have been a down to earth honest chap who really was as he was portrayed. Watching old footage of interviews in a new light now. He deserves respect for going in against Mayweather and Pac while they were at or near their very best. A great character for the sport too.
Estranged since 2023 due to Ricky's Dad taking exception to the documentary that was released about Ricky that year. They were estranged for much of the 2010s too. His Dad allegedly pocketed a ton of money from fight purses without Ricky being aware. That, in a nutshell, is the reason for their fallouts (the 2023 documentary covered the allegations) Consensus even before his death was that Ricky was a troubled but lovely bloke.
I've battled bad bouts of depression before -- not to the extent that I've had suicidal ideations -- but what always keeps me from those ideations is not wanting to leave behind and devastate my kid. I say that to say -- I get it, the guy was in pain and I hope he's at peace now. However.. when you're a father, I do think suicide is selfish. I won't go as far as to say he took the coward's way out, but it's just not something I would ever do as a father no matter how bleak it gets. For people who have no family or children and feel hopeless -- I dont fault them at all for self-exiting. And for parents who lose their children, I definitely get suicide and dont fault them. I can't condone the way Ricky went out given that he left Campbell behind. But it is what it is...
