From 154-168 who's the best guy historically you think Canelo could beat?

    Roy Jones

    j/k

I'm not sure. There aren't many i think i would favor him over but there are some i think he might run close against like Winky or Vargas.

Yep an slightly aging GGG is probably the peak of waht he can expect to beat reliably (though in a controversial fashion obviously). I guess he could get a one punch win vs higher level greats with questionable chins but these would be odd occurrences imo

Good call on Vargas. This would be my answer on second thought

I think prime Winky outboxes Camelo in pretty wide fashion.

Quite possibly yeah, but I don't see that high guard "earmuffs" type style working so well in a fight that's guaranteed to see a decision.

Yep, he's not active enough to outwork him similar to what Taylor and Vargas (and to a lesser extent Soliman) did and I doubt he'd be able to hurt Winky with one shot

Is the answer Froch? Or does Froch win at 168?

Like someone else said unless Canelo lands a miracle shot or can grind them down most greats or near greats comfortably beat him.

So I guess at 154 he's a threat to Norris and Vargas.

At 160 he beats Taylor and a bunch of belt holders.

Would he beat any of the Eubank, Benn or Watson trio at 160 or 168?

I'm not 100% sold on Canelo beating the 05 Taylor. Jermain would be problematic for him.

Eubank Senior beats Canelo. His style would be a big problem for Canelo.

Benn's style plays more into Canelo's hands.

He definitely is a problem for him but he's vulnerable and I could see him getting caught in a fight he was winning.

Froch is an interesting fight. With his style, Canelo should theoretically beat the tar out of Froch but his gas tank probably runs out at some point and if Froch is still there then Nelo gets a bit of a pasting late.

I imagine Canelo wins a decision which is closer than it should be.

Which great gives Canelo the worst beating? I'd say Hagler. Toney would also give him a horrible beating.

I say Robinson. If Canelo fought Bivol's combinations were rough, he's seen nothing.

If we're allowing for some older LHWs who'd probably suit better at 168 than 175, then I can't see Canelo getting anywhere with a guy like John Conteh either.

I honestly think Froch would be putting hands on him from the first round and doesn't have a damn thing to worry about. He's bigger, longer, not slower, has way more gas, a real.long jab etc

Froch is so physically rangy that his one weakspot, rights to the body, probably won't even come into it.

I honestly think Carl fucks him up .

You know, if it's weights,on the night, Marciano comes in at 185 and kills him.

Literally and metaphorically, pound for pound, 185lban.vs 185lb man, Marciano moiders him.

Yeah, it's shocking to think Canelo and Mariano are about the same weight. It would be shocking to watch as well...

Canelo couldn't even beat Steve Collins.

If you're 6 foot, have stamina and a chin and KNOW BOXIN, you'll beat this guy at the higher weights.

Fernando Vargas is somebody he can beat. Vargas, Terry Norris. That's it.

I think he might get past Bute at 168, after Bute gives him fits.

Look, he fucking went 12 with Matthew Hatton FFS.

Norris probably beats the shit out of Canelo for 4,5 rounds before he gasses, gets caught, starts to get broken down and stopped.

That's the best guy he can beat.

Him, Vargas, that Nicaraguan psycho, Ike Quartey, maybe that Mexican weedhead surfer guy, Bronco McKart.

He's not a lock Vs Winky. Probably losing to Williams (but gets a decision) ....probably too slow for Oscar......gets clowned by Pea....
