So Boots will be fighting Lima next Saturday in hopes to make a statement for his 154 debut. Is this a fight that’s worth anyone’s time? Boots most likely dominates but I’m curious to see how Lima holds his own.
Lima will come to fight. Hes not as worthless as most portray I'm told, he's aggressive It is what it is, ennis could sit out the rest of the year like all these other guys and wait for a bigger fight that may or may not come It looks like the baraou guy who beat tellez will go for a more winnable payday vs zayas. So ennis will still he outside the title picture hoping 1 gives him a shot
I like Boots, but I couldn't give a flying fuck less about this fight. I'm not watching. I'm highly disappointed with his career trajectory. I think we can officially write off Boots becoming the next Crawford. He'll never be Bud. To be quite honest he's just not as talented as Crawford anyway, even if he was fighting top guys. IF Boots fights another no-name guy after this dude, he'll lose me as a fan. I'm already on the edge. He had better fucking face one of the top guys at 154 in 2026.
I don't know, Crawford seemed like he was wasting his career (relatively to his talent of course) until his last few fights so maybe Boots will have a late career surge as well. But yes, his career trajectory is highly disappointing
Crawford had done a lot more by his late 20s than Ennis has. Its not even remotely close. Crawford had already beaten Burns, Gamboa, and Postol by his late 20s. Ennis has done nothing.
In fairness, Crawford was always TRYING to make the big fights happen, he was calling out Spence from the moment he got to 147. There's that video of them together. He called out Taylor to his face when Josh was on unbeaten and undisputed (obviously I know Taylor turned out to be a bust, but just making a point). He ditched Top Rank too once he realised the fights were never going to get made by remaining there. I don't think there's anyone you can truly say Bud ducked, and he did want the smoke with the big names.
It's not just ''wanting'' the big fights but mostly agreeing to a purse that make them happen, especially when you are jot a star. I don't think Boots is ducking anyone either, but at the end of the day I look at his resume and upcoming fight and I'm just ''mehh whatever''.
You dont think Boots is ducking anyone????? I like Boots, but objectively he blatantly ducked Vergil.
Yeah I had forgotten the 147lbs fiasco . In all cases, 154 lbs is pretty hot at the moment so hopefully the marquee matchups happen sooner rather than later for Ennis. Won't be holding my breath though...
