I watched Boiling Point recently, very good film, and I realised this guy has never disappointed me in any performance, ever. Even if the movie itself is shit. He's a wonderful character actor on the same level as Gary Oldman. I'll watch anything he's in.
Yeah he's very good, been in a bunch of gangsta flicks. He even played Sammy the Bull in a tv biopic of the same.
Just finished rewatching Boardwalk Empire - he was excellent as a young Al Capone. If I didn't already know I'd never in a million years guess he's British from that performance.
He's fantastic in so many films and any series I've seen him in. Tough to say which is his greatest performance, as there's so many, but Combo in This is England is right up there. He also plays an alcoholic in The Virtues. Very hard-hitting series.
He was one of the bad guys in Travis' video for "Turn." I love that song and that video but for different reasons.
Stephen gave another very good performance in Netflix's Adolescence, a 4 episode miniseries. Stephen played the father of a 13 year old boy accused of murdering a female classmate. He wasn't in it very much until the final episode where his acting chops and range were finally put on display and he did not disappoint. The show was a good drama but not something you'd want to rewatch. I believe there was an issue with the time as this was probably too long to be a movie yet too short to be a real miniseries because there were quite a few times you could tell they were trying to add minutes to this story. They'd walk you through unnecessary sequences such as them showing the police fingerprint the kid. That doesn't seem strange but showing them hit all ten fingers? Seems a bit unnecessary to me. 7.5/10
