Starting to lose respect for opeteia. Guy seems fixated on fighting no hopers. Yeah i know cruiser is a ghost town. But his average opponents (bar Breidis) is pathetic, even by cruiser standard

Sounds good. You really think Ramirez and delahoya want that fight?

Or do you believe it was on the table for opetaia and his team decided to turn it down and instead face some unknown 40 year old guy he nearly killed?

Ramirez is set to face a smaller benavidez for way more money and views

Theres ton of guys that are better that the jokers opeteia is fighting, even in a weak division like cruiser. Listing all of them is an exercise in futility. Neil is an idiot, so dont mind him

No one wants to fight Opetaia, thats the problem. He's not a big draw.

His team have tried to make every fight out there but no one wants it, so he's staying busy fighting mandatories and any other willing bums.

Ha, the "nobody wants to fight him excuse". Sorry but i dont buy it. Heard it for decades from Quebec sleazy promoters to justify the sorry opponents they were digging out. (Bute especially comes to mind) Guy has fought in boxing biggest promotion, and the fighters in CW arent exactly household names. Hell even in his interviews he said he wants to not be forced into taking fights, or something to that ilk.

Hes probably making good money fighting these no hopers, so good for him. But as a boxing fans, we shouldn't defend him for doing so.

And him calling out ramirez in a post fight interview is pretty much meaningless. Im sure he would take that fight if the money is good, but Zurdo seems to be set on fighting Benavidez (and i think he would wreck ramirez). But in the meantime he seems to use the strategy of protecting his undefeated record in hope that a huge money fights falls on his lap. Again, completely understandable, but not in the least admirable

Neil you simpleton, its no great insight that its probably good money wise for Opeteia to fight taxi drivers in hope of landing a money fight. The fact that you think that spewing this banality is proof of you knowing the game, only exposes how much of a brain dead idiot you are. But here im talking about respectability.

To give an example that you can easily relate too, i perfectly "understand" why your decrepit, destitute whore of a mother lets herself get ass fucked by the neighborhood crackheads for a few dollars, since its the only way for her to get a few bills to pay for her meths. But it sure as hell doesnt make her respectable

Like I said man, he's staying busy, fighting mandatories and hanging on to that belt waiting for someone to sack up. He's earning pennies fighting these nobodies. No one wants to fight him because he's high risk/low reward. If he was such an easybeat, Ramirez should have come got the belt and been undisputed.

Thankfully Opetaia puts mandatories away properly, Cinkara had a brain bleed and broken vertebra after the fight.

Exactly. All these mediocre 'contenders' at cruiser would rather wait for other opportunities than get paid peanuts to possibly get hospitalized.

Let's not pretend Bill i.Am smiff wants that smoke

Honestly I never even seen or heard of the other russian guy double mentioned initially

The other belt holders are ramirez who has a bigger opportunity on the horizon and jack is old as fuck with a fight already scheduled, and I doubt opetaia gets any credit for beating him

It's foolish to believe his excellency is gonna throw life changing $ at average no name contenders to risk getting a life changing beating. He'll pony up for the best vs the best

Noel Mikaelian reclaims the WBC cruiserweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Badou Jack in the rematch: 115-111, 116-110 and 116-111. A fight with @ringmagazine champion Jai Opetai could be next.

We'll see if this nobody takes it

Honestly think Ramirez outboxes him. Opetaia is predictable. His switch to orthodox and then throw a left hook is so overdone at this point but he keeps doing it. He's all jab, 1-2 to the body, 1-2 up top with tons of feinting. Like what else is he doing in there? I'm probably the only one who sees him as an average fighter. Keep in mind he was shaken to his boots vs Cinkara, wobbled badly by a 40+ year old limited dude. Ran from any interviews after the fight.

He's super limited, I agree. Great athleticism but very basic skills wise. Still, I dont think Ramirez is a very good fighter, so I doubt he''d be able to exploit Opeteia flaws

Apart from Breidis x 2 he's fairly untested against quality opposition, and he did look a bit shit against Cinkara (though put him away nicely in the end). His take one to give one style could be his undoing, as he seems happy enough to bleed for a win.

On the plus side he's aggressive and loves a dogfight so he's exciting to watch. Keen to see him fight for another strap and see what happens.

What's with all the people confusing 'his' and 'he's' recently? I'm seeing it everywhere.
