this is just like ngannou fury. great showing by rico but usyk almost stopped him in 4th and for whatever reason backed off. bs stoppage and rico was probanly winning but if he fights a dubois or wardley or joshua dont be surprised if he gets knocked out early.
Haha, so much for all the clowns claiming Usyk was some kind of all time great hw. He's a gatekeeper at best in a good era. Verhoeven is awful, even in kickboxing (yeah I know he's dominant but just as boxing,.it's because the talent pool is beyond shit) and the whole thing is just sad
Usyk's heavyweight resume Ultra competitive points win against Chisora 2 decision wins over Fury. One of them a SD 2 decision wins over AJ. One of them a SD 1-1 against Dubois Outboxed by and should have lost against 1-0 kickboxer Oh ya and stopped Chazz Witherspoon All time great heavyweights no?
Terrible terrible stoppage. But it's a bit of karmic justice after Rico used the old lame tactic of spitting out his mouthpiece to gains some time. The rules really needs to change, cause this bullshit can really change the outcome of a fight (rico gained at least 15 extra seconds to recover, and wasnt even penalised). They should let the fighter who spit it out continue without it, and only allow him to put it back between rounds
I tought he lost pretty clearly the first Fury fight, though I can see an argument for him. And lets not forget that it was an old coked up Fury that barely beat a MMA fighter in his fight before.... Fuck the HW division is so pathetic
Damn, that stoppage was terrible. Rico couldn't miss with his right hand. Don't think Usyk-Itauma will happen now.
Usyk could not see Rico's right hand all night. He really did a good job of not telegraphing it. Not surprised the ref bailed Usyk out.
Usyk slowing down but he’s been getting overrated in recent years. He was fortunate the ref stopped it.
Cards at the time of the stoppage were 96-94, 95-95 and 95-95 in Verhoeven favour. That's after 10 completed rounds. If you complete the 11th, it's 10-8.... Usyk That leaves it at 104-104, 105-103,105-103 going into the 12th. So, Verhoeven was probably not getting the decision anyways.
Btw, does someone know what is going on with Jaov. One of the few hw that seems not to be total garbage
I'd seen him fight before this and couldn't understand the hype, he'd only beaten cans and looked terrible. The commentators were all over him during the fight, even though he looked as uncoordinated as fuck. He was crouching down at waist level facing away at 90 degrees to Sanchez when he got hit by that right, he practically blindsided himself. Plus he had his hands down around his knees - totally goofy.
