Who did he beat in MMA that should be impressive to us? Hell, he at least could have fought a "name opponent".

Actually, Rickson did lose a fight. It's reported that he lost one, and he ducked challenges from people like Bas Rutten while instead fighting Funaki, who Bas had already beaten. The guy was supposedly the best of the Gracies, but he let 4 or 5 of his brothers get demolished and fought Nobuhiko Takada a few times in Pride instead.

I know that Rickson is a legend, but he didn't fight the best competition and left some stones unturned. A fight with Sakuraba after Sakuraba beat Royce in the 2000 Grand Prix would have been the biggest fight ever!

It was a SAMBO match that Rickson lost on points.
He claims that he didn't understand the rules because of a language misinterpretation.
Rickson's fight with Funaki earned him the highest purse in an MMA fight up until then, about 1,000,000 dollars.

Can you come up with a name or a source of some kind?? LOL

Only someone who has never trained a day in his life would say something like that.

Yes, the few opponents on his official record sucked, but if you go 400-0, I don't care who you are beating, you gotta be doing something right.

I'm not saying he's the best ever, but for you to brush his abilities off so quickly shows that you cannot recognize talent when you see it.

I dub thee a total TUF noob.

I've trained for numerous years, and I have never seen TUF in my life, hell, i think it's not even broadcasting in canada. Anybody who have a litle experience fighting knows it's easy to look like god against bums. And he might have 400-0 record in jiu-jitsu, but I'm commenting about mma, in wich he doesn't have more than 20 fights.

he lost for gettin' thrown on his back, he didn't know this would result in him automaticly losing though

imo Rickson would have beaten Sak ... too bad he never tried

A good analogy would be...... would a professional football team ever lose to a High School football team? The answer is no, and it's really not impressive whooping the high School team over and over.

His father Helio calls Rickson`s 400 - 0 record crap. He said that Rickson counts the training matches against his students.
There`s no documentation for his complete record and Bas Rutten brings up a good point when he said "uh yeah... nice round number huh?"
There`s no doubt Rickson was a badass and IMHO ahead of his time, but the record has to go. And I believe Bas would have taken him. Not 100% convinced about Sakuraba but im still leaning towards a Saku win.
