Great quote by Pulver after the fight when asked if getting knocked out would discourage him. I'm paraphrasing... "Nah, I get knocked out all the time, that shit don't bother me."
Why is that an unbelievable upset? Pulver fights with his head swinging out there like a cow bell. He gets whacked out all the time.
Rashad Evans gets his first UFC KO. Mcarthy was ridiculously slow in stopping the fight. Almost like an MMA version of Mercer\Morrison. TFK
Because Pulver is one of the top fighters at his weight in the world, and he fought a guy that nobody had ever heard of. I'd call a 7-1 underdog a pretty big upset. TFK
What? Pulver hasn't been an elite fighter for some 4 years, homeslice. He's been cannon fodder for the best fighters at the weight. Stop believing the UFC hype about the guy. He's shot.
Whatever. If you call a nobody that's never fought on a major card before beating a former champion who's fought all over the world against some great fighters anything other then an upset, that's your call. TFK
An upset? Maybe. But its certainly no ground breaking, shock the world kind of loss. Pulver is chinny as fuck, fights with his head unprotected and gets KOed all the time....he got punched in the head and got done over. It happens. Its no great shock to anyone that understands where Jen's is at right now. And PUlver has been fighting on baby town cards recently too, because everytime he's gotten in with an elite fighter of late, he's had his head taken off.
Too bad the stream site is down.:nixweiss: I pay for the service and they decided to take it down tonight of all nights, on the day of a UFC event. Weird.
Guillard wins with a wicked body punch, not something you see happen to often in MMA. He had a scare in the 1st though as he had given up his back, but was able to avoid the choke until the round ended. TFK
Melvin fucked him up bad. Wicked punch to the guts. Fucker is lucky he didn't get busted for the kick he delivered after the KD.
Yeah, it looked like he tried to pull back at the last second, because he could've really done some damage with that kick. Would sucked for him had he been DQ'd for it. TFK
Swick wins a mostly uneventful decision. If it were a 5 rounder, he probably would've been KO's or submitted because it looked like he was gassed at the end. TFK
Tyson Griffin wins easily by RNC in the 1st in his UFC debut. I've heard good things about Griffin, he's one to keep an eye on. TFK
Round 1 was BJ's round. Hughes took a thumb to the eye but seems OK. Hughes can't take Penn down. Penn landing the better stikes. TFK
Damn! Hughes barely escapes a leg triangle choke. Saved by the bell. Hughes had top control most of the round but didn't do much. I have to give the round to Penn because of the domination in the last minute. Penn looks good. TFK
Hughes is being treated like the bitch he is...AGAIN. Fucking wrestler has no idea how to handle a guy who's better than him on his back AND on his feet. He looks lost. Only question is BJ's suspect stamina now.
Hughes wins by ref stoppage. Penn looked a little tired to start the round, and Hughes was hitting him with some good shots standing up. Hughes takes him down, ties him up leaving Penn's face open, and Hughes unloaded on him. It didn't look like Hughes was doing major damage, but Penn couldn't defend himself at all. Good stoppage. Hughes is unbelievable. Everytime you think he's seconds away from being beat, he pulls the win out. Good fight. TFK
If Penn could've kept his stamina another round, he would've had a real good chance of winning, as Hughes couldn't do anything to him the first 2 rounds. TFK
He gives me the shits....he has it ALL OVER Hughes in the ability and style department...yet he never botheres to condition his body for a long fight. Thats what makes you a champion for christs sake. Asshole he is.
I heard Penn almost had Hughes trapped in a sub at the end of round 2. Penn's stamina problems cost him dearly. Obviously he doesn't take any of his shit seriously anymore which is unfortunate. He decided to use his own training routine and this is what it's gotten him. Bad conditioning.:nixweiss: Oh well, next up Hughes/GSP II. I still don't know if GSP has what it takes to beat Hughes.
LMFAO! I watched a preview of this card on Spike TV, and they didn't even MENTION his opponent, they just labeled it "Jens Pulver's comeback". I thought to my self wouldn't it be great if this TBA guy just knocked him out senseless?
Sometimes, "TBA" can go on to become "the best of the best". Isn't Carlos Baldomir a perfect example of that? A guy nobody gave 2 shits about prior to his fight with Judah. And now some cats on here got him as being the best of the best and an ultra risk for Pretty Boy Mayweather.
