Big UFC card, Live tonight, free on Spike tv. I assume Ortiz will ground/pound Shamrock on the fence and finish it early in the 1st round.
Tito Ortiz 203.5 vs Ken Shamrock 204.5 Chris Price 185 vs Kendall Grove 184.5 Jason MacDonald 185 vs Ed Herman 186 Seth Petruzelli 203.5 vs Matt Hamill 205 Crafton Wallace 185.5 vs Nate Marquardt 184.5 Dustin Hazelett 167.5 vs Tony DeSouza 171.5 Rory Singer 185.5 vs Josh Haynes 184.5 John Alessio 169.5 vs Thiago Alves 171 Marcus Davis 170 vs Forrest Petz 169.5 A bunch of nobodies mainly. Or guys I hardly give a shit about.:nixweiss: I wouldn't mind seeing Kendall Grove in a tough fight. Wonder if his opponent is even worth a shit but I doubt it.
Grove and Alves are who I'd like to see most. I want Herman's ass smashed. Heard a lil buzz about Marquardt.
Damn, one of the non televised undercard fights must have been a blood bath, look at the mat, it's covered in blood. TFK
Matt Hamill wins a decision in which he dominated, and saw both fighters bleed a lot. The fight itself was uneventful, just Hamill taking down Petruzzeli and controlling him the whole fight, occasionally throwing some elbows. Hamill definitely has potential, but he needs a lot of work. You can see he's strong and is a great wrestler, but he needs to evolve if he's gonna last in the UFC. His striking and submission is still very rudimentary. TFK
Jason Mcdonald wins with a 1st Round Triangle choke in an upset. Herman held on for a long time, but he wasn't getting out. Mcdonald opened a cut on Herman's head with elbows while he had him in the triangle. TFK
Kendall Grove wins by GNP. So far the fights have been so so. Nothing special. Hopefully there's more fireworks in the Main Event. TFK
As expected, Tito takes down Shamrock and wins with the GNP in the 1st round. Action wise, tonight was a pretty big disappointment for the UFC. With the audience I'm sure they had on Spike, I'm sure they were hoping for some more action packed fights. TFK
The McDonald/Herman fight was sweet, and had a great finish. Now if we can see Groves humbled in his next fight, that would really make my day.
I could see Herman winning a rematch. He is as tough as nails. Anyone else wouldn't have held on as long in that triangle. I would love to see a rematch, because it was shaping up to be a helluva fight. Great groundfighting, but Herman simply rolled into the triangle while at the same time reversing his back position. Great move, but wrong place at the wrong time. It happens alll the time in MMA, that is why hardly anybody is undefeated. Hamill is a tough and strong guy who basically sucks in the other aspects of MMA besides wrestling. He doesn't have the attitude or the intelligence to do much other than get unfortunatley destroyed the first time he faces anyone even resembling a light heavyweight contender. Just a likable big strong overgrown kid that doesn't know his own strength, kinda like Lenny in "Of Mice and Men" Kendall Grove is a guy that I thought used to suck. I don't think he sucks anymore. His groundgame is solid, his cardio is improving and he has solid basic standup with fairly fast hands. For a guy so tall, he is good at infighting, alot like Rafael Ruelas. SHort hooks and uppercuts. And his kicking is solid. As for the main event,...it sucked ass just like we all knew it would. But as long as I got to watch UFC for free live...I can live with that. Hell, I felt embarrassed as hell for Ken that he didn't do anything different than the last two times.
Hell's FIRE I didn't say that he was ready for the divisions top fighter.:nixweiss: Personally I don't think that he will ever be as good as Franklin is...but I could see him beating Evan Tanner.:box:
