" I felt like I was about to go to sleep so I tapped, I should have gone to sleep like a real man, but I tapped out like a little bitch. WHat can I say, thanks for the support." :jester: I have to give Ed credit, that was pretty funny.
Ortiz vs Shamrock is UFC's equilavent to Vlad vs Holyfield. One of the top guys of today against a legend from the past. Mismatch or not, you never see boxing matches like that on free TV. TFK
No double standard stevie bro. Look at it from my perspective. If I was the president of a fight company and I only had 3-4 marketable names which the casual fans recognized, I would try to cash in by putting the 2 biggest names together, regardless of how sorry the matchup was BECAUSE it will produce big ratings just based on those 2 names. Did you see Holyfield vs Jeremy Bates? Most members here on this board watched that fight and for what reason? Because of Holyfield. The fight was sold out and they had a tremendous gate. It was a success with 7,000+ fans who bought tickets. Why didn't they care and why didn't we care that Holyfield was a sorry excuse for a boxer these days? We still watched it anyway.:nixweiss: Same thing here. You have a big but washed up star whom you can market to produce nice tv numbers. The fight was sold not only on starpower but on the enmity/storyline between the two fighters. 2 stars who hate eachother, put em on PPV then put em on free tv. Alot of people will tune in. It's just business. And nobody paid a cent for it. Watch how many people will want to see Mike Tyson's upcoming 4 rounder. By the way, alot of the UFC fans who actually love the sport have really spoken out about the whole Ortiz/Shamrock fight and called it a disgrace to MMA. But at the end of the day, Spike made a killer in their ratings. And that's what it's all about. Hulk Hogan couldn't wrestle but he was the main man because he could sell tickets. Same thing here.:nixweiss: Milk it while you can!
Everybody here would watch Wlad/Holyfield if it was on free tv. No f'ing doubt about it.:jester::jester:
maybe if it was theyr first fight. But, If it was the 3rd fight between them, and that the first two were a massacre, it probably would be on regular TV( hbo, well I guess you're right , since hbo isn't free tv)
Anyone who bitches about free UFC on Spike should be forced into the Octogon with Wanderlei Silva.:2:
Yeah, I'd have stepped in there and fought Silva while he's laid on his back bleeding after CroCop was done with him.:jester:
He was laid out on his back, dying in a pool of his own blood, his eyes rolled in the back of his head. Dumbo!:jester: Anybody could just step in and stomp his head in! Dude was completely out.
no they didnt....they billed it as the final confrontation, basically saying that Tito would close the book once and for all. If they would have thought Shamrock could pull it out, they wouldnt have been so sure this was their last fight. Joe Rogan said on the air that it would be very hard to find a way to think Ken could win the fight. They've also been pushing the Tito Lidell match up, which doesnt say much of what they thought of Kens chances
Do you think "the Athlete" will be a contender in the UFC, or will he lose his next fight to some up-and-comer? Herman is okay, I think he will make a decent career for himself.
I dont know.....His ground game looked real good....He tried for a scarf hold, which you hardly ever see, and a head and arm choke, which guys have gotten away from...I dont know the finer points of BJJ, but being aggresive on the ground will probably do him more good than bad. He looked really quick and smart down there too. We'll see, I'll reserve judgement for now, but color me impressed
I know he was unconscious....that is why I said you were stupid:youarestupid: for making such a ridiculous comment. That is the only way a shep like you would have the nuts to get in the ring at the same time with Silva.
It was tongue in cheek humour, my little sunshine!:jester: Don't get your panties in a bunch. So then, would you step in with Silva, Explosivo? How many guys on this board do you think legitimately would want to test Silva? I definitely would not want to if I had a choice. If I was forced into it like say 'pushed' into the ring, then I guess I'd have no choice but to die trying.:nixweiss: Maybe life/death situations can bring out the best in us?
I would "test" him for about...I dono 30k or something. That should cover my hospital bill. Or just verbal tap soon as they start the fight, screw ufc fans and make a pay day, a tried a true formula.
:jester: Steve you are very wise. Just like the bullshit myth that MMA guys will fight anybody when Pride and UFC can't get along to make a Silva-Liddell fight.
