It's nice to see Rich Franklin being compensated well for his injuries sustained. That $21,000 should be enough to twist that nose back into position. I hope he doesn't spend it all at once. It sure pays to be a UFC champion.:jester:

Silva is a bigger name internaitonally speaking...PLUS, they had to pay to get him on board. Franklin was already there and doesn't need to be compensated to keep him there.

Dana does business not unlike McDonalds.

The way I understand it,..the UFC sets it's bouts for the winner to secure the majority of the pay. Completely opposite of boxing.

I think it should be done this way simply to fend off any corruption, PLUS it is a definite incentive for the fighters to fight and win.

We pay our professional athletes RIDICULOUS sums of money for playing games. It looks ridiculous what these guys get paid, when you compare them to athletes in sports like baseball, golf, football, basketball, hockey, tennis, etc.

The fact is, ALL THOSE atheletes are overpaid, bigtime.

Damn shame that a fucking boisterous arrogant cocksucker like TO can make millions a year by fucking up and being an attention whore.....and one of the best fighters in MMA can only hope to earn 200 thousand. And that's if he fights at least four or five times.:19:

Franklin signed a long-term contract before the UFC really started pushing him by giving him the showcase fight with Shammy, putting him on The Ultimate Fighter, and giving him a title shot.

So he has to abide by that contract whether he likes it or not. Too bad a UFC champ like him only makes 21K guaranteed. Then again, Arlovski made 20K for his fights with Buentello, although another 20k bonus for winning. Franklin sees no bonus.
Too bad, he goes home with a shattered ego, broken nose, bruised ribs and lousy pay.:nixweiss: Welcome to the UFC!
Seems like even if you win the title, don't expect any kind of payoff or reward. You can be happy having won a big bit of leather and tin to put around your waist to keep your pants up.

Couldn't agree more. Although Chuck and Tito get nice payouts. Dana's little baby boys.

Tito had to force the hell out of Dana to get that money. That's why there's such an enmity between them behind the cameras. If Ortiz wasn't a draw, Dana would've thrown him on the street a long time ago. He already did once but brought him back.
