Well, I wouldn't pick Gomi. Thats for sure.

GSP is too big and too well rounded.

That's what I was thinking. Mainly too big.

I guess GSP is UFC's only fighter that is better than the pride equivalent.

Yeah, but he's not really the equivalent. GSP is in a different weight division.

Yep, but let's say they are both the best of the lower weight fighters in UFC/Pride.

How much of a chance do you think Gomi stands? He can certainly punch, and he's pretty vicious.

Has GSP ever been properly chin checked?

I wonder what chance this fight has of being signed too, probably none :jester:

Honestly, I'd give Gomi no more chance than say....Liddell would have of beating Fedor. Basically none. GSP is HUGE for his weight and is just flat out better everywhere than Gomi...cept with the hands. Wouldn't matter though, GSP would control range with ease and slaughter the little fella from anywhere he wished.

As for the fight being signed? Not on your life. :jester: PFC aren't stupid with their big stars. Besides, I thought Gomi lost his last two anyway. :nixweiss:

I haven't seen the rematch. You think gomi lost that too?

After those last 2 fights, do you think gomi was simply overrated, or aurelio has his number?

Gomi won the rematch (i think)

no way in hell could he fuck with Georges....Like Tam said, Georges is HUGE for his weight, about as big as 170lbers get....Its not even close to fair, and Gomi isnt THAT great.

BJ Penn is closer to the equivalent and he already beat Gomi. BJ will be lightweight Champ as soon as he gets Sherk in the ring.

If he is so huge, he should move up to MW and fight Anderson Silva. stirpot::

What's funny about that? He's been there before and he can easily make 155. If guys like Sherk and Joe Stevenson can make 155 then Penn can damn sure make 155.

Oh really? I'm willing to bet you anything you can get your hands on, that you're wrong on that one. Do you even know who BJ Penn is?

Honestly, give it a year and you might get that fight. GSP wouldn't be without a good shot either. Silva is nothing if not beatable.

actually, I think thats where he is going.....plenty of murmurs suggesting that is so....I think the premise for the next ultimate fighter has he and Pulver as opposing coaches, with the winning COACH getting a title shot....That hasnt been confirmed, but its one of the rumors I've read

Penn would have to cut off an arm to get back down there, or cheat. The second is an option that Im sure the UFC wouldn't like him testing out, but its about his only chance.

guy hasnt trained in 5 years....if he WANTED to, he could make 155....BJ may end up being the reason for a 163 lb division in the UFC

Which is the point. BJ Penn isn't the same guy who bashed everyone 6 years ago. He's a lazy ass fag now, who hasn't hit a heavy bag in almost a decade.

    He eats ALOT.

oh, I agree, which is one of the reasons why I find it hard to root for BJ nowadays. He just doesnt give a shit....If he could tangle with machida at 200+ lbs, imagine what an inshape, foccussed Penn could do at 155:19:

Well, the pre-Pulver Penn, was one of the nastiest fuckers I've ever seen. He turned into a cheap slut that night and has only rarely shown the same fire. In the ring/cage...in the gym...anywhere. He still talks tough though.

yep, he talks like he's done something worth a fuck.....I think BJ got a little full of himself after the Uno fight, and its been a downward spiral since that point

No I don't. I read about him on Sherdog once though. HIFU

Yeah, I know who BJ is, he's the fat little Hawaiian that fights out of his weight class who's head looks like a fucking pumpkin at 170.

The guy CAN make 155. Whether or not he is dedicated enough to do it is another story.
