ok, just ended. what I got out of it was: - one guy can't throw straight punches - another wasn't aware that throwing rocks at a train is considered a crime - another was just arrested a couple of weeks ago, and it's very possible he gets arrested again between now and next week oh, and despite the insistence that there's no parallel between this and wrestling, the show was hosted by wrestler/actor-turned-MMA announcer Goldberg :jester:
I'm sure he is. But in all seriousness, I'm going to this show next week. What should I expect? I mean, I know that people can't predict the future. But on paper, is this a good card, action-wise?
Outside of the main event, I don't even know who's fighting. I wouldn't expect a barn burner out of Renzo Gracie and Frank Shamrock. At this point in their career's, they're more thinking men's fighters....and if you can't appreciate the ground game...prepare for booing.
I know there's the chick fight (Gina Carano being the one name they keep hyping up). Then there's the crack-head lookin' dude, Krazy Horse (Charles something... Benning, Bennett, or something like that). He;s fighting KJ Noons. Antonio Silva's scheduled, but I thought he was fighting tomorrow in the UFC show. Edsen Berto is fighting some local fighter from Olive Branch. In boxing, that usually means, fall-down opponent, so we'll see how that translates in MMA. Actually, instead of my guessing, I found the full schedule: http://elitexc.com/?page=events
Krazy Horse is a guaranteed enjoyable fight. Whether you like him or not, he usually does something that will make you pull a face at some point. I'd be happy to go just for his fight, to be honest.
you don't have to think anything, you can just check the link I provided, which shows all of the scheduled fights
Well, it's a 3 1/2 hour drive, so it's not exactly in the area. Still, I'm getting myself revved up for it. Kinda feels like I'm cheating on my wife, but it's worth the effort since Gary Shaw and Showtime are involved
