This weekend Jason “The Athleteâ€￾ MacDonald get his chance to move one step closer to his dream of becoming UFC Middleweight Champion when he takes on former Champion Rich Franklin. Jason has been on a tare lately, going undefeated in 2006 with two big UFC wins over Ed Herman, and Chris Leben. He looks to continue to play his role as spoiler when he heads into Franklin’s backyard this Saturday at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. In this Fightbeat interview Jason breaks down the biggest fight of his life, talks about training with Team Jackson, and gives us an insider's prospective on why he believes Randy Couture will be the next UFC Heavyweight Champion. All of this and much more in this must-read interview.

    Good interview.

Man, this is an intriguing fight. Macdonald is on a roll, and not only did he upset Herman and Leben, he did it impressively.

Franklin on the other hand, like the interview mentioned, is coming off a devasting loss, so who knows where his head is at. Just a few months ago he was on just about everyone's P4P list, and now he's in real danger of losing 2 fights in a row.

Whoever wins, I see them facing Anderson Silva in their next fight, assuming Silva is still the champ.

I think this one will be worth the price of the PPV alone.

:2: Good work. Franklin will try to keep this standing and go for the KO asap. MacDonald needs to bring it down to the ground to win. I can see MacDonald having success if his chin holds up. MacDonald in the 3rd round by submission.

I think these wins are overblown. How is it considered an upset by beating Ed Herman?:jester: That dude is absolutely nothing special, just a prospect from a tv show. Who's he ever beaten? And Leben is a never was. If MacDonald beats Franklin, then that is an upset although I wonder if Franklin's days in the octagon are coming to an end.

good interview, it's funny that he got his nickname "The Athlete" because of his college volleyball career. :rollllling:

I like both of these guys, I hope MAcDonald wins, but I still go with Franklin by (T) KO.

Franklin's a fag. He's got no future in MMA. He should go back to teaching 3rd graders. MacDonald will wipe his ass with Bitch Franklin!

If Franklin doesn't knock him dead in the first round, He should retire.
