Hmm. I've only seen two Locche fights. He was a defensive wizard. The closest thing to a great defensive fighter Taylor fought was Mcgirt. He wasn't on the level of 'Intocable' but Meldrick did beat him up pretty good. I don't know of anyone on Locche's resume who brought the high punch output and hand speed that Taylor provides so it's hard to gauge. I'm guessing it's a close points victory either way.
Taylor's speed and his workrate win him this fight. Locche was a classic ring general, a great skilled boxer, but he just doesn't have enough offense to overcome Taylor's activity. Taylor on points, swing and missing at times, but working, working, working.
Great match-up. This is where I was netting out. Locche was brilliant...but he loved to pick his spots and generate just enough offense to show he was making you miss and pay. For all of his quickness and generalship, he was measured with his shots. Against Taylor, that is a big issue. And Meldrick always punched in bunches and was fast enough to get in more than normal against Nicolino. As Rubio says, yes, Taylor would be there to be hit up the middle....but does Locche hit him ENOUGH to counter his activity and outpoint him? I don't think so.....I think Taylor by tight decision. Peace.
