How good is Chagaev? Could he beat the man who many felt did enough to beat Holmes?

Witherspoon would be a HUGE favorite here.

Agreed. Chagaev is still unknown prospect and who knows, maybe the guy has a granite chin which combined to his nice power and speed would allow him to beat Spoon, but for what we have seen so far Witherspoon starts as a favourite as he is by far the more proven guy

Chagaev struggles with and arguably loses to an old John Ruiz, and there's talk of him against Tim Witherspoon?

I thought Chagaev beat Ruiz relatively clearly.

It's too soon to consider something like this, IMHO.

    Peace.

There was nothing arguable in that fight. It was a 8-4 type of decision where Chagaev more gave rounds away than Ruiz won them

Yeah, but he gave away five or six rounds. Ruiz wasn't at his best, but he won more rounds than Chavaev did. If the fight hadn't taken place in Germany, Ruiz would've won.

Terrible Tim by ko in 8. I think he'd find a home for the overhand right and it. When focused and in shape Witherspoon was pretty good.

Spoon knocks the hepatitis out of Chagaev in seven rounds

So far nothing has proved that Chagaev lacks chin. However, now we know enough about him to know that he would lose a wide decision to Spoon
