OK , we all know JQ could have made a cruiser weight weigh-in. What would go down if he fought the Jirov that fought Toney ?
Jirov would throw more punches but , if Quarry was at Cruiser , he really would be able to bang hard .... I think you are right , Quarry's power and head movement settles this dispute ..
Sadly, 90% of the topics in this section are just like this. The same idiots keep making them up. All they know about Quarry is that he could punch a little and that he fought Muhammad Ali. They can't understand basic concepts such as precision.
Fuck you guys :flip: This is not a joke ... Also I have seen quite a few Quarry fights ... The Jirov that fought Toney was a solid opponent on that night- that is the Jirov I'm using for this MM fight - not the Jirov that fought Mesi ... This is not such a bad MM and anyone who thinks so just doesn't know what a good MM is .... As for your idiot comment , you have balls coming out with that after what I made you look like a few months back ...
The Jirov that fought Toney had no accuracy or power in his punches. Quarry had a lot of both. Easy, easy, easy, easy win for Quarry.
What about the Jirov that fought that dude who got shot in the back and died? Or the one that went the distance with every guy as big, or strong as him, everytime he fought them? Jirov had an average beard, an average punch and no defense. Quarry had those qualities too...but in comparison to an era where every top fighter was an all-timer. Jirov performed about as well as Quarry did, against 1/10th of the talent pool. Quarry in 2 or 3. Tops.
What you perhaps don't take into consideration is that even though Quarry fought as a heavyweight, the guys of his time were midgets compared to modern heavyweights. Quarry was outslugged by guys such as Chuvalo, Norton and Patterson, who, very good fighters as they were for their time, are small by today's standards. The sport develops. Quarry wins it, but it is not a blowout
Yeah, because Joe Mesi and an ancient Michael Moorer were better than Chuvalo, Norton, Patterson, Ali, Frazier, Ellis, Lyle and Shavers. You're an idiot for even defending this ridiculous topic.
Jerry Quarry is overrated! But even having said that, he'd have wiped his ass with Jirov in under 3 rounds. Jirov was put on queer street by the late bum ass Letterlough for Christ sake. He could never handle a legit heavyweight with pop like Quarry.
By whom? I don't think I've seen anyone rank him among the top 20 heavyweights of all time. He beat Floyd Patterson, Ron Lyle and Earnie Shavers, all of whom would have a shot at being among the top 30 or 40 heavyweights of all time. If he hadn't been stopped on cuts against Ali, he might have been extremely competitive in both of their fights.
In their primes Quarry does crush Jirov, but if they fought right now Id have it closer. (bad humor alert)
