Is not Mayweather Jr because he is NOT a fighter he is a pot-shotting BOXER! Boxing is not fighting so why do people insist on calling him the worlds best FIGHTER? He might be the #1 P4P boxer in the world(which I also think is bullshit) but he is farrrrrr from being the P4P worlds best FIGHTER because that title is already taken by a REAL fighter by the name of Fedor Emelianko! So please people refrain from calling Mayweather the best fighter in the world.
When people are calling him P4P the best they are only talking about boxing. Since when have you seen a P4P list that mixes both boxers and mma fighters?
Ah... who said anything about mixing list? Every other post on this board about Mayweather some nut says he is the best FIGHTER not BOXER. When he's talked about on ESPN they say P4P best FIGHTER not BOXER. I can lead you to some post right now that says best FIGHTER not BOXER.
This thread is ridiculous. You're doing yourself a disservice. Put down the beer, the spliff and take a nap...
No it's not you are one of the nutz I'm referring to about calling Mayweather the worlds best FIGHTER when the little loud mouth bitch isn't a FIGHTER!
I've been pondering this for a few days now. In 1999, Trinidad v De La Hoya was the biggest fight in the sport. It involved two of the top three 'P4P' fighters in the sport and at the height of their powers. At this same time, Floyd Mayweather was struggling for recognition, fighting a string of quality contenders some 17 pounds down below. The fight that made him is still some way off in the future, but the time eventually comes in 2001 (and later in 2002) and Floyd is among the elite in the sport. Mayweather finally hits his absolute peak in terms of quality wins, with the rematch victory over Jose Luis Castillo. Now, this is just the preamble leading to my explanation of why the term "P4P" is beyond ridiculous these days. Oscar and Floyd are fighting today @ 154 pounds and all you've heard in the lead-up is "The P4P best fighter in the sport fighting blah blah blah blah". Floyd Mayweather is NOT the P4P best fighter in the sport any longer. He can't be. If he was, you wouldn't have Fightbeat.com split down the fucking line on who would win this fight. Unless of course you're going to include Oscar among the top 5, how can you justify it? A Junior Middleweight pound Floyd Mayweather would be struggle with the title claimants @ 154 and I doubt he could separate himself from the pack in any shape or form. He fought two fights @ 147 and beat the champion there, but never separated himself from the pack. 140? Same deal. It takes you back all the way to 135, when he beat Castillo and defended that crown a couple of times. 2002-2003. That was Floyd Mayweather's high point. In terms of recognition and fighting weight. THAT 135 pound fighter was the best in the world and no fighter at any weight was better. That 135 pound fighter was MUCH better than the one who quite frankly was dull and unspectacular vs. Baldomir @ 147. He's not getting any better as he adds the weight. So ask yourself this again. If you really think Mayweather is the best fighter in the world (and most of you do), how is it you are all so divided over a fight involving a guy who was Floyd Mayweather, some 8 years ago, is semi-retired, hasn't won a big fight since 2003 and whom is STILL being given a big chance by a lot of you? He had no chance vs. a Bernard Hopkins who weighed 156 pounds. SIX POUNDS more than Mayweather. And Mayweather is the greatest fighter in the sport? :notallthere:
Mayweather is the most talented fighter in the game. Resume wise he isn't the best. It really depends which you go by to determine who's the best fighter p4p. Alot of the decisions in Oscar's favor especially on this forum is really just hatered for Floyd. Floyd is unlikeable we all know this and imo alot of the decisions are influenced by this. Then again Oscar does present a few problems height, reach, strength and in all honesty seeing what happen to Roy Jones Jr a few years back against Tarver, nothing is ever a sure bet anymore. All it takes is one punch and Oscar has enough pop to hurt Floyd. I don't think he will but thats my opinion.
Yeah it's me that fucknut payton banned my IP address( I got a new one) so I can't log in under my real user name but I told that fucker he can ban the man behind the Pitbull name! How you been bro?
I never miss a Fedor fight. It's something special seeing that guy perform in the ring. Not only is he possibly the most versatile fighter around, he's intelligent and can adapt to any situation. Man's a genius in there with incredible skill. People marvel at watching great boxers like Floyd Mayweather Jr, or a prime Roy Jones or a young Pernell or Tyson in the boxing ring. It's equally impressive seeing Fedor perform in MMA. He won the Master of Sports Award a few days ago in Sambo in Russia. He made fodder of his opponents within minutes. I watched a bit of his Sambo matches in Russia against his 6'6 brother Alexsander. Fedor tore him apart like a father spanking a child.:: Fedor got hiptossed and he immediately gets on top and pulls out a submission from nowhere. I think Jim Lampley would have a very different perception of the skill level of MMA if he saw Fedor perform.
He's fought and beaten the best already. I doubt I'd consider Mark Hunt and Matt Lindland as being 'cans'. 'Cans' in the truest sense of the word are those tatooed scrubs on The Ultimate Fighter who talk alot of sh*t but never done sh*t. Besides, the UFC has a monopoly on MMA in North America. If Dana White wants his services, he's gotta cough up the $$$ because Fedor's getting paid very well in Bodog and enjoying celebrity-like status over there, rather than performing for a bunch of redneck morons which the UFC tends to attract.::
And if he fights Gonzaga, I really doubt he's just gonna stand there waiting and waiting and waiting hoping to land a big kick like CroCop. Fedor will be all over that big ass from the opening bell, and will ground/pound him into the dirt. That's if Couture doesn't do it first.
Fedor is P4P #1 and has been since 2003. He's the greatest mixed martial artist of all-time. Without question.
lindland ia a good middleweight and a decent lhw, but a can at hw. Hunt has potential, but he was coming off a destruction at the hands of Barnett. Zulu Zulu is a farce and coleman ain't much better these days
I have an idea, jot down all the LEGITIMATE heavyweights whom Fedor should be competiting against and then we'll discuss this. Other than Josh Barnett, there ain't crap out there. You got a few rejuvenated heavyweights who suddenly popped up in the last 3 months like Gonzaga after killing CroCop, and 43 year old Randy Couture after slaughtering the saggy lumbering joke Tim Sylvia. Andrei Arlovski is crap and nothing more than a china chinned scared bum who's been KO'd too many times to even be worth caring about, and Werdum is a crappier weaker version of Noguira. So what do you have on your jot pad, Jesus?
Not a bum completely but I'm seeing less and less from him with each fight. I don't know if he's fighting to NOT LOSE, or if he's fighting TO WIN. He doesn't have the confidence that he had when he had his first run with the heavyweight title. He's been involved in 2 of the worst heavyweight fights we've seen in a long time with Sylvia/Arlovski III and Arlovski/Werdum. I almost thought the boring crap that was Sylvia/Arlovski III was due to that lumbering sack of sh*t Tim Sylvia but after watching Arlovski/Werdum, it's obvious Arlovski doesn't have the passion or fire that he had when he made his mark. A little gun-shy, alot less confident. Maybe he'll find his edge again if somebody brings the fight to him. But it's gonna get tougher for him if he wants that title back. The division is starting to get stacked. Noguira is now in contention, Randy Couture has found a second-life, Gonzaga has shown some serious fire, and Fedor may soon be coming in. There are no Buentellos and Eilers type competition for Arlovski to pad his record with. Today it's guys like Noguira, CroCop, Couture and Gonzaga. Big difference in skill level in the UFC since 2 years ago.
Arlovski has world class talent, but since he got knocked out by Tim Sylvia he has fought very tentative. Although IMO it was the only way he was gonna beat Werdum, cuz if he was more aggressive he wouldve been taken down and that wouldve been it.
