We will have 3 HW champions fight within a few months of each other, yet not one will have fought another champion. When the HW division is in shambles like it is:shit: , it really affects boxing. These clowns need to get their act together and fight.
Well, Maskaev has no option of fighting anyone not named Samuel Peter. Wlad is avenging a loss, can't really blame him for wanting to fight a guy who KO'd him. In fact I think it shows balls. Briggs has his mandatory due. Seems they are all pretty tied up. At least Wlad talks about unification. Hopefully he really tries to do it.
Last I heard about that was that he may never fight again. I hope it's healed because he's going to need two good eyes if he wants to repeat the upset.
If Wlad doesn't get tired this could be a massacure. Skill for skill this is a mismatch. Lamon better hope the Homer Simpson tactic works again.
There's no clearly defined #2 right now to Klitschko. The champions are as undistinguished as the contenders, as they recycle the belts among themselves. You can't get behind Liakhovich because he's no longer a champion; the same with Rahman and Valuev. "Unification" just for unifications sake doesn't mean much, IMO. After the initial unfication, all it seems to do is increase the number of mandatories a champion must make. Since there's little distinction between champions and contenders, what's the real point? It does give something to the media that they can belly ache about, though, so when they unify titles it pleases the media and when the media's happy they do tend to show up in greater numbers and sing the praises and kiss the rings they're supposed to...just as long as they're given free room and board.
Lamon really took an unbelieveable amount of punishment in that fight. I seriously doubt he can do that again.
Briggs is busy with Ibragimov and Maskaev with Peter (and the winner with the other Klitschko). There's a good chance there will be two new champions by the end of the year. And Chagaev's barely had enough time to parade around all of Uzbekistan with his title.

My first karate Sensei had one eye and he was the most viscous counterpuncher I ever saw.. you touched him and you got smoked to the ribs. :: ::
Yeah, but Brewster's counters don't come until at least 3-5 rounds later, once his opponent has tired.
