Who is more proven in terms of his talent and greatness?

Roy has won titles at 160, 168, 175 and Heavyweight. He's gone through long stretches where it was hard to find a ROUND that he lost much less a fight.

    His best wins were:

Hopkins, Toney, Hill, Ruiz, Griffen and Tarver

His Greatest achieve is a toss-up between winning a version of the Heavyweight title and dominating then P4P king James Toney for the supermiddleweight title.

    Floyd has won title at 130, 135, 140, 147 and 154

    His best wins were:

Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo, Judah, Baldomir and De La Hoya

His greatest achievement was beating De La Hoya at 154lbs

    Who's more proven?

Unless he's REALLY Dumb Enough to RETIRE & NEVER Return,Floyd is On his Way to Amassing a MORE IMPRESSIVE Resume than Roy Jones'....

"However", Floyd Hasn't BEEN More Impressive N his Biggest Wins,as Roy Jones was N his:nono: ...

For as Much NATURAL TALENT & ABILITY that Floyd has,he's Still NOT on Roy's Level N those Regards...On the Flipside,Floyd is More TECHNICALLY Sound than Roy was,Obviously...

As we Type TODAY,Roy Jones is MORE Proven...He had that "WOW" Factor Over Floyd,N ABUNDANCE...Roy was More BREATHTAKING N his Performances...

This will be a tough one for Floyd fans because they are all the guys who jumped ship from the Jones bandwagon.

Jones has a better resume but Floyd can surpass him if he keeps fighting. Big IF.

Roy Jones Jr. is more proven, and I don't think it's that close at the moment.

Mayweather has the potential to amass a better resume, in terms of names, because the divisions he fights in are generally deeper.

However, it's still very much a question mark of whether Mayweather will attempt to take on the level of competition that could close the gap.

Jones Jr. was decisively better than fighters like Hopkins and Toney in the ring. Mayweather had that chance to put on a "virtuoso" performance like Jones Jr. did against Toney and didn't do it.

Roy Jones beat good fighters that became great. Mayweather beat great fighters that became old. But Mayweather was never put on his ass by a 2-bit bum. So they are basically both garbage.

If they were to both retire today, Roy would be higher on the all-time rankings.

    Damn good post REED.

Roy did things in the ring never seen before. Roy's skill set would have been difficult for anyone to deal with in any era.

I'm going to jump on the Double L bandwagon, and say Fraud illegally turns his backs during fights and fighters should be allowed to punch Fraud in the back of the head, spine, or even kidneys.

If Fraud doesn't like it, he should stop being a damn cheater. :warning:

Roy Jones is in a different class than Mayweather.

Before Roy suddenly turned shot, he had barely lost a round in his career, much less had a close controversial fight. Mayweather when up against the best has eeked by in a couple of fights, and failed to impress the fans and judges.

Roy is proven as a top 5 fighter all time, Mayweather has proven to be the best fighter since Roy recently retired, and that is it.

Tarver was not a good win for him. He got pinned against the ropes and actually gave Tarver enough confidence to stretch him, next time around. I don't think much of tarver. I believe that if roy had just not been psyched out Tarver would have never gained enoug momentum to stretch him.

And what about the Hopkins win for Jones? Mayweather has fought better comp on average but Roy beat the big boys before they got in their groove. So i call it a toss up.

The 160 and 168 versions of James Toney were better than the 190 and 200+ versions.
