Glengoffe gives "you can get there with hard work and determination, even if you are not that talented" a new meaning.
GJ seems like a nice guy ... I'm glad he got some money and fame for a little while back when he was in the mix with Jones and Tarver ...
I must admit I had only seen Glen one time before he KO'd Roy. But when I heard the words "I'm not the best, I'm just the guy who's willing to fight the best" come out of his mouth, I became an instant fan.:cheer: :bears:
and unlike Tarver, Johnson was the first to win round after round against RJJ, and dominate him with mid-distance offense, head movement, and general toughness.
He is the man. His heart willed him to victories over vastly superior fighters like Tarver and Jones.
True...but prefer guys who talk shit! It makes it more exciting. Who wants a boring nice guy fucker in this sport? If you want to be nice...play tennis.
It's pretty easy to root for overachieving guys who worked hard and paid their dues and then have a big year, like Glen Johnson or Carlos Baldomir. Plus, I used to dislike Tarver more than almost anyone in the sport, so anyone who beat him I liked be default (even though I scored it 7-5 for Tarver).
Glen is a class act, I like the guy and to boot he fucked Roy Jones Jr's shit up then KTFO his ash in the 9th, whats not to like, he has the warrior mentality and throws with bad intentions, has a pretty good workrate and came up the hard way. Everyone picked RJJ to take his IBF belt but he shut em up something fierce. "Don't celebrate, Roy could be hurt or worse!" LMAO  I wish I still had that clip of RJJ on the canvas KTFO I will always be on the Glen Johnson bandwagon
I know Johnson works hard, fights everyone and throws a lot of punches, but a lot of his matches lack drama.
Glen is my fav above 160, "I'm not the best but i'll fight the best" is always better then "I'm so good I don't need to fight him".
