Well, let see....there have been dozens of Olympic games and dozens of world amateur championships.......there have been HUNDREDS of boxers who've win a medal at one of those tournaments......you do the math.....

So how does that mean that someone hasn't had a decorated or noteworthy amateur career? :dunno:

You know Shane Mosley is one of the most successful U.S amateurs in history and didn't medal at the Olympics? Yet he was still considered a "can't miss prospect."

But according to you, Paea Wolfgram is a more decorated amateur because he won a "medal" at the Olympics.

Lots of decorated amateurs don't compete in the Olympic Games for a variety of reasons, it doesn't mean they aren't decorated or notable.

Perhaps you're missing the point here? Mr. Tucker claimed to have "one of the best amateur careers in boxing history". Yet, he hasn't even one a medal at the highest level of competition (like W.C. or Olympics), like hundreds of other boxers did....You're saying that NOT winning Olympic games or World Championship is better than winning it? :dunno:

he was referring to his won/loss record. in those terms, his career does qualify as one of the best ever. and the fact that he's competed internationally, including the pan-am games, means that he faced and beat many of the same fighters who would go on to compete in the olympics. the pan-am games are every bit as competitive as the olympics, btw. they just aren't marketed as well.

  5. dymipepel

Well, in those terms Nikolai Valuev and Brian Nielsen have oustanding careers, "among the best in boxing history"

Tucker saying he had one of the greatest amateur careers in the history of boxing is just plain stupid, and it's an insult to guys like Lazlo Papp, Oscar de la Hoya, Howard Davis, Teofio Stevenson and Felix Savon.

Well, truth be told, those guys only won things like Olympic Games and World Championships....and as we were led to believe in this thread, winning these tournaments is much less important than winning Pan-Am games.

All of them kicked ass at the Pan-Am games, to boot. Jason Estrada won the Pan-Am games, and he sucks.

    Again Tucker, ignore this idiot.

Yes, all of those pan am medalists from days well before Tucker's achievement are so relevant. Try again.

Right "lets see" you have proof that the guy in question has really accomplished something. Alabamma gives you evidence on several occasions to that end and you want to denigrate the guy.

Your argument can be reduced to :shit:. Your motives are just plain :shit: , I mean why not encourage the guy once you know he has some real cred? Keep digging in Petre junior   god forbid you could be wrong.

    Hahaha...

Ask my fellow fighters that were in the amateurs with me if I was one of the finest amateur fighters in the history of the sport.....I started fighting at 15 years old..in 6 months I was ranked #2 in the U.S. , with only 9 fights under my belt I was the silver medalist at the 1995 Natl Golden Gloves, barely losing to someone who fought all of their life and had around 150 wins with a few losses..I was ranked number 6 or 7 in the us after that........that was my first year in boxing...after that I went on to the take the number 1 spot for years bouncing down to 2nd a couple times....Like I said I am one of the finest.......when u can even get into the top 4, u are considered elite...I was number one, i beat alot of guys who were ranked in the top 10 internationally.

Perhaps, but you did not have one of the greatest amateur careers in the history of the sport.

Yeah that's what I thought, when you get called on your own point, you just retreat, and actually 4 of those guys were from the previous games before the one Tucker fought in. Good job shithead.

    Here, I'll do it.
2003: Pan am gold medalists...non cubans...
Likar ramos concha at 125....In Athens he was stopped in the round of sixteen of the Featherweight (57 kg) division by Belarussia's Mikhail Biarnadski.
    .
    141 patrick lopez from venezuela...went to 2000 and 2004 olympics...lost 2nd round 2000 and 1st round in 2004
    .
165 juan jose ubaldo from dom republic...at the 2004 olympics There he was stopped in the first round of the Middleweight (75 kg) division by Cameroon's Hassan Ndam Njikam.
    .
178 ramiro reducendo of mexico...at 2004 olys...There he was beaten in the first round of the Light heavyweight (81 kg) division by Belarus' eventual runner-up Magomed Aripgadjiev.
    .
superheavy jason estrada of the usa...lost in the quarterfinals.

okay..winning a gold as at the pan ams as a non-cuban in 2003 meant very little for success at 2004 olys....
    .
    how about 1999?
    .
omar narvaez...lost in 2nd round of 2000 olys
    .
    tucker...usa...olympic alternate...vinson..his replacement...tied for 3rd
    .
victor hugo castro..argentina...lost in 1st round of olys
    .
    again...if you aren't a cuban...the pan am games didn't mean much.

He was the first American heavyweight to win an Olympic medal in Judo. How the fuck does this help your point? He was one of the greatest American Judoka to enter the sport.

    zzzzzz....
and you didn't even do your research correctly...no surprise there...
from 1995 pan am games...non cubans winning gold...
    .
Edgar Velasquez 105 from venezuela...did not compete at 1996 olympics...i don't know why he didn't
    .
joan guzman at 112...lost in 1st round of olympics
    .
walter crucce of argentina at 139...did not compete at 1996 olympics
    .
david reid...147..usa...won gold at higher weight class...not even sure if juan hernandez of cuba competed in the pan am games
    .
    antonio tarver..178..usa...tied for 3rd at 1996 olys
    .
so...again...winning the pan am games is impressive, but it certainly isn't near on the level of the olys...not even close since 1995

You put up guys who didn't even compete in the olympics so how can you judge their success in the olympics at all?

Again you just proved what a shithead you are.

You go back to the 1930's with well-known examples trying to make a point that isn't there and you provide incomplete information from 1995.

Congrats...except for your extraordinary felatio technique, your performance in this thread is lacking.

I think the fair presumption is that they didn't qualfiy for the olympics, as was the case with tucker. I thought the pan am games were an auto-qualifier back then, but apparently not.

If I'm mistaken on including those guys...let's hear why they didn't participate in the olympics...or you can quote duane bobick's stats, if you prefer.

The Pan Am boxing tournament didn't exist in the 1930s. You're quickly losing ground here.

Just because a fighter doesn't fight in the Olympics doesn't mean he couldn't qualify. Tommy Hearns chose to go pro, Aaron Pryor went as an alternate, there's an infinite amount of reasons why a fighter doesn't actually fight in the Olympics. To assume that they simply aren't capable is the assumption of a shit head. :shit:
