Hey Gerald, in your opinion, would you consider the competition at the Pan-Ams top tier amateur competition from what you know of other games? (Such as the Olympics, worlds, Commonwealth Games, and Goodwill Games)

There are people here who seem to think the Pan-Ams don't mean shit even though most boxing experts and scouts consider it a stepping stone into the Olympics.

Seeing as you've competed in them, I'd like your opinion on this.

Are you retarded or just really, really slow? I mean, it's okay either way. But, as one boxing fan to another, this forum discussion medium just ain't your thing.

I don't understand these guys. You have people like mike and dickpimpel calling decorated amateurs, fat, idiots, and stupid. Are they jealous that they never accomplished anything in their lives?

These guys crack me up their haterade.

Then hop on the short bus and go home.

The 1930's comment was obvious exaggeration...like when your friends say you are only a little slow.

As far as the pan am guys not fighting in the olys...wow, you were so profound...there might be other reasons that they didn't fight besides not wanting to....not a brilliant move when there is so much more money available to guys who do well at the olys, but one I'm sure you can relate to.

They never fought in the trials. They fought in the finals of the 1976 National Golden Gloves.

Pryor lost to Howard Davis which is why he went as an alternate. Steward said he was tempted to bring Hearns into the 1980 games, but it was too far away (time-wise), and the U.S boycott would've nixed that idea altogether anyway. In the end Steward decided to bring Hearns into the pros.

But thanks for proving what a shit head you are Zac.

Either way, he wasn't getting on the team past Pryor, Davis and Leonard. Oh, and Hearns didn't turn pro until over a year after the 1976 Olympics.

You simply don't know shit. Don't even try to post about boxing.

    Right.

Didn't you just post that Pryor beat Hearns in the olympic trials?

Either way, Hearns wasn't at the trials in 1976. Hearns never had the chance to fight Pryor, Davis or Leonard at the Olympics.

Steward considered waiting for the 1980 games but since they were a ways off and Hearns was already developing into a pro, they decided to go pro. By 1980 Leonard, Pryor and Davis were already pros, so even then they would have never fought. It was a good decision in hindsight on Steward's part because the 1980 games were boycotted anyway.

Honestly its almost all the same, the only differences is which channel will be airing it, and that there are more countries competing in the olympics, because it is more popular..but you will fight the same amount of fights, most importantly you have the most dominating country in amateur boxing(Cuba) to get pass in both int'l tournaments to win the Gold...

I make a distinction because even though Mike was a bit harsh he has a point of view that he supports with evidence and logic. Dickpimpel on the other hand just flat out seems to not favor the use of any evidence to back his assertions and obviously knows about as much as somoene like me (not much at all) about amateur boxing.

I think miKe is just playing devil's advocate but to call the pan-ams worthless or crap is just ignorant. ANYONE who knows anything about amateur boxing knows the Pan-Ams are a major tourney. One of the big 4 in amateur boxing.

True. I don't want to oversimplify things but the general talent level of the Cuban amateurs being what it is, to compete and actually beat one of those guys is quite a fiate.

Not to mention that Font was one of the best amateur batamweights in the world at the time. He schooled the shit out of Carlos Navarro in the Goodwill Games when Carlos was still hungry and tearing through amateur competitions. The cubans are bar-none the best boxing amateurs in the world.

hahahaha...Like I said before "you guys are good"!!! you find the facts if someone is a liar or exagerrater!!! Cermeno is undefeated??, he was real tough, he almost killed someone the night before we fought, I think he sent the guy out a stretcher...I beat him 9-0, easy work, but a tough fighter!

And thanks, Im having a ball with you guys already and this is only my 2nd day kicking it with yall...Thanks man, The bad mouthing is great, I love it, it makes me hit the bag harder at the gym, and run more miles in the morning...so joining this forum may end up being the most important decision I've ever made.

***correction, I beat Cermeno in the finals score was 15-3, I mistaked him for my quarterfinal fight***

Um, no I didn't. Can't you fucking read? Hearns had no chance against Pryor or Davis at 132

Oh, because he turned pro, right? You said, "Hearns chose to turn pro," implying that he turned pro rather than fight in the Olympics. That's not true. He turned pro a full year after the 1976 Games.
How the hell could he? By defecting to the Soviet Union?

You said the reason Hearns didn't go to the Olympics is because Aaron beat him, which is false because they never fought in the trials. I corrected you about who beat Aaron (Howard Davis), and you said "Hearns wasn't getting past pryor etc anyway."

You know shit about boxing, stick to WWE.

Or do you think he would've defected to East Germany? Bulgaria might be a good choice, because the weather is very nice. They also have delightful French fries.

    Exposed.

But your attempts at trolling the situation away are admirable.

I think you might get banned in the new Corrales thread though, so you better get your trolling in before you're gone for another week.

Perhaps if he wanted to fight Howard Davis or Sugar Ray Leonard in the Olympics, he could've gone to Romania. I hear the food is excellent!

That still doesn't work, Davis and Leonard are Americans and wouldn't be able to fight in the 1980 olympics.

Even when you're trying to troll, you fail.

He couldn't have fought them in the 1980 Olympics. They had already turned pro. In the 1976 Olympics, Hearns had a chance. If he had defected to Romania, he perhaps could have gotten a shot at the team if he'd been able to beat Cutov. How do you think he would've done in that scenario? I don't know if the Romanian judges in the box-offs would have favored Hearns, so he'd have to knock out Cutov, probably in consecutive matches.

Which do you think is worse, supporting drug trade which affects the lives of millions of people, or domestic abuse? I'd say it's a push.
