Like MOST of Ya'll,REED Initially Thought Jermain Taylor was a PUNCHER....

But After Seeing Kassim Ouma WALK Taylor DOWN,After Seeing Winky Wright WALK Taylor Down,After Seeing Cory Spinks Absorb FLUSH Uppercuts AND Overhand Rights from Taylor (w/Little to NO Effect),is it Time we STOP Considering Jermain a "Puncher"???...

I never considered him a puncher. Only time he ever really flashed power to me is when he KO'd Bunema. But I thought at least he'd be able to KO lil Kassim.

Basically. They keep digging and digging, looking for a viable prop for him to knock over. He couldn't KO Ouma, he couldn't KO Spinks. He couldn't stop Joppy either. Maybe they should have him fight another one of his sparring partners.

Sorry guys, this was a pretty bad performance. Spinks fought the way he always fought. And early on - as in the first five rounds - he landed almost all the clean punches. Taylor wasn't even INEFFECTIVELY aggressive because he wasn't throwing punches. Sh*t, if that was Floyd Mayweather in there, some of you would have called it a MASTERPIECE.

I stopped watching after round 8, so I could care less who edged out who in what round to win the decision. I'm sure the last 4 went like the first eight...TERRIBLE.

Maybe he doesn't listen to Manny, or Manny doesn't have a clue and is a shitty trainer. The guy have not learned how to fight. :dunno:

:nono: You will all be sorry in due time, very sore and sorry,..Jermaine just doesn't get up for these irrelevant no-win fights that Dibella is forcing down his throat,..he's that type of fighter, one who amalgamates to the shittyness of his opponents,...Dibella is fucking his career up, and Jermaine is clearly frustrated about it, hopefully he can escape him, and SOON.

:nono: Yeah right, Fraud would've been doing some 'light training' while watching Taylor / Spinks in vain hope that Spinks would win,... had Spinks won, Fraud would've oppurtunistically scrambled to the phones to contact his manager (Oscar De La Hoya) immediately, and Spinks would've turned from enemy to friend in due time, (much like BUMdomir)...:crafty: we know how Fraud and Fraud fans operate, the best example is simply his soft route through 140 and 147,..jesus, even Mosely had a better stint at 140 than Fraud did.

Taylor is strong, and he can get some power behind his jab, but his poor technique is part of the reason why he can't generate more power on his right hand.

It was interesting hearing Manny reference Taylor "drawing" the right hand...though that was in a different context. He wanted Taylor to shorten up his right hand and bring it up the middle without bringing it back first.

Frankly, listening to Steward in the corner tonight I wonder whether he really wants work with Taylor any more.

    Well,the "Manny Experiment" ISN'T Working...

REED won't Cast BLAME on Taylor OR Steward, but Jermain DOESN'T Look ANY Different than he Did PRE-Steward...

I wonder who would make Taylor look that much different.

He's just not that highly skilled a fighter, and his technique is so bad he probably needs to bring someone like Butch Harmon.

Short of that, he's going to have to stick pretty closely to what he does now...which is relying on his jab and sloppy right hands, and pray his activity, toughness and determination - as well as his promoter/manager/etc. - are enough to keep him winning.

:nono: He's a work in progress, and yet still owns two victories over the reigning, record breaking, hall of fame bound, and current undisputed light-heavyweight champion of the world,.... now, that's actually not too bad for a 'rough edged diamond' is it?..:eeeek: what a start..

Work in progress? LMAO! Taylor is 29 years old, in his prime. What we're seeing outta him now is the best we'll ever see from him. Your a work in progress in the amateurs, and when your just turning pro, not when your 29 and the undisputed middleweight champ!

    He isn't even undisputed.

Pavlik and Abraham now have equal claims {IMHO Abraham has more claim than Pavlik but its all good} to the Middlweight Crown.

:nono: Uh uh uh uh uh Xplosive please, Wladimir was a darling amatuer too, and then a golfer crushed him, Wladimir is only now showing a steady improvement under the careful tutorlage of Stewart, it'll take more than a couple of bouts, I mean Wlad lost to Brewster under Manny's guidance so I take this as Jermaine's 'Brewster' of a performance, he was in two minds, not yet settling into his team's effective strategy,...now, however, it should be smooooothe sailing from here on into the hall of fame, Taylor will be cracking heads left right and centre like a gear-box in a rally car,..just you and your Irish friend watch,..:nono:

I'm sorry you feel that way, but Hopkins held the WBA, WBC, IBF AND the WBO title,...Taylor beat his arse twice, then scared, and starved the consensus next best, Winky Wright, back to junior-middleweight in hiding, the stinking, traumatised armadillo got STUNG, and was shivering in pain inside his tight little ball,...subsequently REFUSING a rematch,...so without doubt, heartbreak and delusional lusting aside,...Jermaine Taylor is the undisputed middleweight champion, that's a reality, and you can. :nono: keep your Arabian figurine out of the sand-pitt until he whisps his carpet over here and takes Jermaine head on, in America,...(Abraham already turned him down ofcourse I should mention, he needs that same blanket of protection that Ottke, Beyer and Valuev enjoyed..corrupt anarchist improvising that Wilfried Sauerland is famous for) :nono: ,..

    What?

    Taylor WAS Undisputed.

    He ISN'T ANYMORE.

His "Undisp" status is about as legit as the middlweight creds of recent opponents.

    Furthermore, where is the progress?

Doesn't a fighter actually have to show progress to be a "work in progress"?

Yup. There is no progress. Still has poor footwork, still leaves himself open when he jabs, throws sloppy combinations, only has a right hand, the list goes on and on.

    He has to work

    He has to show progress.

Taylor has made hard work of beating smaller guys.

But there has been no progress. He's stagnating.

Yeah, I see nothing special with JT. He basically works the same 2 punches over and over. The left jab followed by a loooong ass straight right.

I agree, however if it's Pavlik next with his low left hand, that straight right will be the punch to land all night

But I think Pavlik will adjust to the ol' Taylor 1-2.

I hope so, it's long overdue that Taylor face a middleweight
