:: Sorry, I'll stop. I always used to like Taylor... and I thought he beat Hopkins clearly in the first fight and his draw with Wright was a fine dicision. But he's been ass in his last two fights, and Pavlik is a strong middle. Taylor is worse now than he was in 2004.
His technique is still better than Taylor's. Do you actually expect to see Taylor sneak in some counters inside of Pavlik's shots with the way he loads up every punch? Taylor doesn't even look for the counter, he just throws whenever he's not afraid to get hit, which is why he hit Spinks after the bell like 3 times last night. Atleast Pavlik is capable of throwing a right hand without switching his lead foot like Taylor does.
No, I expect Pavlik to miss a lot of punches, while not moving his head. Taylor, while no speed demon or defensive wizard, can at least change distances.
Nah:nono: ... Not Sure Just How MANY Pavlik Fights YOU'VE Seen, but he's MORE Boxer-Puncher than BRAWLER... YES,Pavlik is AGGRESSIVE,but he's Usually a Bit More CAUTIOUS than we Saw Yesterday... REED
Hate to side with Reed here - because he is a homosexual - but Tyson tried to kill himself shortly after the Douglas fight.
Honestly, I hope Pavlik stops JT. I was his last supporter although I have thought for years he wasn't very good. Not kayoing Spinks is just unforgiveable. Go Kelly.
Meanwhile,it's ALSO "Very Easy" to Play that ELITIST,Hard to Please Roll like YOU'RE Doing... Was Pavlik IMPRESSIVE Last Night or Not???... REED:dunno:
How is gayness related to having another poster in your sig? I don't see the connection. If that were true, 99% of the posters here would be gay and at best you'd be a contributor to the gayest site in boxing. I don't understand, friend.
You're so quick to come up to with some of kind of "category" to place others. A hater, a nuthugger, an elitist...whatever. Pavlik looked good last night. He used his size and walked down a knockout puncher and beat him up. While he showed he could be hit, Pavlik demonstrated a good beard and toughness, and won't be an easy fight for a lot of middleweights. That doesn't mean he's the next "star" in boxing, or that he's better than Taylor or even in the ballpark of Calzaghe or Kessler.
Simple... RubyHOE is @ Least ACTING like he has a PROBLEM w/Gayness &/or Gay People... As Such,WHY the Fuck would he DEDICATE his OWN Sig Space to Someone he's Accusing of Being Gay???:dunno: ... Personally,YOU'RE 1 of the DUMBER Individuals REED has EVER Come Across, yet You Wouldn't even Stoop to the Level that RubyHOE has... REED
Ah,O.K. So YOU WEREN'T "Categorizing" when YOU Said,Half the Board is Acting like they Saw Tommy Hearns???:dunno: Whatever The POINT is,U're Bending Over BACKWARDS to Show how UNimpressed U were w/Pavlik's Performance... FINE,we GET it... YOU Think Taylor BEATS him...The Vast MAJORITY Thinks Pavlik BEATS Taylor... Leave it @ That & Move the Fuck Along... REED
I am many things but dumb just isn't one of them.Your logic makes little sense to me. It seems you aren't ready to forgive and forget. I will try. There must be some value to you as a life force.
:: REED DOESN'T have to Prove ANYTHING to ANYBODY:nono: ... Who GIVES a Fuck what YOU Think??? REED:dunno:
The Hearns comment was an obvious joke, but it's clear to me that I saw a different fighter in the ring last night than many did. I don't see Pavlik as the "next star", don't think he's better than the middleweight champion, and certainly don't think he's better than the super middleweight champion. Apparantly that puts me in the minority on this message board. Generally, I think it's way too easy for some fighters - especially knockout punchers - to gain that kind of credibility after one or two wins. Pavlik is getting way too much credit, IMO, for beating a seriously flawed fighter who got way too much credit for a losing effort against Abraham.
Pavlik's best defense is a good offense....I would pick taylor to win actually...i think his straight right would find pavlik all night long and do some serious damage with it
another thing..miranda was overrated BIG TIME...i even think his power is overrated..despite what his KO percentage reads
I stated that flatly before the fight. I tried to tell Jaws that for weeks. He isn't featherfisted but he doesn't have pop like Foreman and he has the same delivery system. It only solidifies my point that Arthur Abraham is the worst title holder in the sport. He nearly died against this guy. A guy Pavlik walked right through.
dsimon writes: Taylor has some advantages: He has been in with better comp which is a pretty big advantage. Taylor has straighter punches and is at least as good defensively. Taylor is strong in a way that a guy like Marciano was strong... he isn't necessarily more muscular, nor is he a physical fighter like Hopkins, but he has a certain physical presence at the weight that makes it hard for his opponent to dictate the fight, bully and press him. This is what gets Taylor by and it was a problem for Hopkins who could not physically control Taylor on the inside as much as he would have liked too (even though he beat him).
