    Spinks…. Appreciation Thread.

Why is this guy getting all this abuse, I though he fought a good fight against the bigger guy and could have easily one. Fraud did the same thing against Del A Hoya and he’s treated like a god by some posters.

Taylor is a bum and Calzaghe would beat that bitch easily.

I was also impressed with Kelly that was an entertaining fight. But Joe spanks him aswell.

I think people are more pissed off with Taylor, they just let their St Louis bias spill over against Stinks.

It's true that Spinks was a stinker last night. I thought his fights against Mayorga and Karmazin was good showings but last night he just wasn't effective. He was running away at the same time he threw his punches. I think the best thing Spinks could do to revive his career is to hire Mayweather Sr. I think Sr could do the best job for him by making his defensive style more effective. I think the fact that his weight keeps getting so out of control reflects how much work he's putting in the gym, which judging by family history is probably not very much.

Probably the worst indictment of Stinks stinkworthiness was to be found in the tone and bodylanguage of ROman Karmazin following his fight with Stinks. Karmazin was basicaly disgusted that he lost to a guy that just ran all night. He said he'd take a rematch but also shrugged his shoulders cos he knew what that would involve....another stinking night of foot-racing.

Karmazin lost for the same reason that JT looked so bad. They were afraid to throw and didn't. Whether that's from fear of looking bad or getting countered it's their own fault. Karmazin didn't start throwing punches til after the 7th rd so he got the loss he deserved. At least Mayorga never stopped trying to hit Spinks, it's no wonder he wound up looking the worst of all 3 IMO.

I thought he was more a stinker vs Mayorga than vs Taylor. IMO he won saturday night fight and the lack of action has to be hugely put on the shoulders of Taylor. Spinks was doing his thing vs a bigger, stronger and harder puncher, boxing from the outside, it was up to Taylor to take some risks and try to overpower him, he choose to only pick his spots ( wich were few and far between ) and thus, won a debatable (even thought I had Spinks winnig, it wasn't a roberry ) decision vs a smaller man. Spinks ain't a runner, his only performance that I saw where he ran was Judah II, he's one of the best, if not the best, pure boxer in the game. A shame that he doesn't carry the Spink Jinx, or else, he would have put Taylor on his ass in the 1st round when he tagged him with the straigh right hand.

Karmazin didn't lose because he didn't threw punches, he lost because Spinks tapped his ass.

Well I was actually impressed with Spinks, he landed with some nice combinations and got it and out fast, Taylor couldn’t catch him. He fought the smart fight against the bigger guy.

But none of this takes away from the fact that JT was awful. How did he get the decision against Winky and B Hop. I’m sure both guys are asking themselves the same question after seeing that debacle

Again all these guys calling spinks a runner, I hope your not PBF fans...

It only appeared that way. Unlike Taylor, Mayorga was actually pressing Spinks, coming forward and throwing haymakers. Spinks would slip, counter, and then have to create space again against Mayorga's constant pressure. This created the impression that he was running but he was showing way more efficient defensive boxing against Mayorga. JT was constantly catching Spinks with an effective jab and the mere fact that he didn't throw alot of punches limited Spinks' oppurtunities to counter so all Spinks did was throw little pitty pat punches here and there with an occasional jab to JT's stomach.

I felt JT threw and caught Spinks with a couple of big shots per rd while blocking alot of Spinks shots as well which is why I thought JT won because I couldn't give Spinks more credit for slaps when JT landed the bigger shots. Had Spinks had a much higher punch output he likely would have won.

Well that too. But anyone who tries to argue that Karmazin won (which many have done) need only look at the fact that he didn't throw shit for 7 rds as proof that he lost.

Here's what I find funny. In the fights where I thought Spinks actually won and was much more effective (Mayorga, Karmazin) he received alot of criticism and cry's about how he should have lost. Yet in the JT fight where he seemed much less effective and I felt he lost, everyone thinks he fought great.

It's bullshit, Taylor hit him often, blocked many of his punches and Spinks rarely did any great defensive moves and hardly threw any punches throughout the fight other than an occasional jab to JT's stomach. People criticize Taylor's punch output but to be honest that may have been the key to him winning the fight. By limiting his own punches he limited Spinks' oppurtunities and since JT usually landed the harder shots, that won him rds.

Cory is bashed because he is stinky to watch. He's a skilled guy, but extremely hard on the eyes. He "runs" way more than Mayweather does.

Mayweather vs Spinks. Now that's a fight for the boxing purest LMAO. Hitting and running is what boxing is about...I mean hit and don't get hit.

Comparing Spinks' "performance" to Floyd's is tantamount to idiocy.

I appreciate the fact that we all die and therefore Stinks will die. That is the only good thing I can say about him. One day, the Stink will be over.
