Still an interesting match-up - and a good barometer for Roy. he must realize that he's in no position to command millions. He has to earn that again. In the meantime, is he still hungry? I liked what I saw against Ajamu but I'd like to see him do it against a better fighter. And then an even better fighter. Should be interesting.

Good i was hoping to hear that this was a done deal. Hopefully after this fight Roy can rematch Johnson or the Taylor fight comes off.

Roy Jones vs. Evander Holyfield in a retirement match. Make it happen.

Yeah, but if you had heard Roy talking his way out of that fight you'd have thought Hanshaw was superman or something. In fact giving the outright fearful sounding excuses he made and continued attempts to get a different opponent, I'd be surprised if Roy actually grew the balls to fight this guy, I just don't believe it's true.

well, nothing's changed for RJJ. he hand-picked this kind of opposition before he got KTFO, and he's doing the same now.

Who even cares anymore?? Fighters like Jones, once they are over the hill, are over. Jones relied on speed and reflexes to dominate. While his speed is still very good, his reflexes have slowed....and his power is not that big at this weight. PLUS, his chin and confidence have been exposed as a liability.

Roy Jones used to be a great fighter with unlimited potential. He is now a fast and old fighter with no fire, no excitemnt, and no chance to beat a top tier champion ever again.

Have not received confirmation yet but this would be quite a turn of events. Jones was snubbed by both Hopkins & Calzaghe. While awaiting a "yes" from either party he, in turn, snubbed Showtime's offer to face Hanshaw.

It wasn't necessarily the money ($500,000) as much as it was sharing the dough with Gary Shaw. If this fight is now on, I wonder what the terms are.

Yeah, but you should have heard RJJ crying like a bitch on the btalk interview. He was siteing Hanshaw's record saying shit like, "why should I fight a monster like that for this much money".

RJJ considers Hanshaw a monster? WTF is wrong with this guy? He's in the wrong business if he thinks Hanshaw is a monster.

RJJ should retire. he's obviously been pussified by his fame and fortune and at this point is capable only of humiliating himself further.

    D:lol:

The rest of that interview is even more hilarious in light of this weekend's event. He was calling Hanshaw a monster and complaining that Jermain Taylor's tune-up was a welterweight (Cory Spinks).

Anthony Hanshaw is a damn good fighter. A prime Roy would wipe the floor with him.. but now who knows.. he's alot better than given credit for.

he's good. but isn't it funny to hear RJJ, P4P star, refer to him as a, "monster?" and complain about having to face him?

it's so obvious RJJ longs for the olden days when he could fight guys like Glenn Kelley and Richard Hall.

If you read the entire string of boxingtalk interviews, Roy is basically saying why should he fight Hanshaw under Shaw's promotion(and fill Gary's pockets)....Roy had/has no issues fighting him under his own banner.

Roy doesn't sweat this cat.....Hanshaw is a good young fighter and Jones was just using a bit of hyperbole, that's all.

Most journeyman light heavyweights would consider Hanshaw a monster. That's what Jones is now.

You wouldn't be willing to bet your life on that. If anything, the guy is still insanely fast and if he even has an ounce of confidence left, he can pull it off. No matter if it's Calzaghe or Taylor or even B Hops.

Hopkins is older and yet nobody's saying anything about him.:dunno: It's all about "What have you done for us lately?"

Yes, but you won't see Bernard fighting anyone under 30 yrs old anymore either.
