    Possibly on Showtime :bears:

The 4 opponents that are considered are Guzman, Valero, Barrera and Soto :bears:

I don't know why people actually think it could be anyone but Soto.

The other three names sound better, but Pac-Soto will get a better marketing angle after Soto beats up on Manny's brother on June 9.

Not that I care, but I wonder why Showtime.

What I don't understand is, with the exception of Soto, all of those fighters are with GBP. So when he says it's going to be one of those 4, doesn't he really mean Soto? And isn't he bull-shitting us then?

I think Soto would be a good opponent. Soto handled Juarez pretty easily and I wouldn't be surprised to see him give Pac a lot of trouble.

i agree. but i could do without the bull-shit. why not just admit that you're the victim of adolescent petty promoters who have made it impossible for you to fight any of the elite guys at 130?

I thought Guzman was under Sycuan Promotions, not Golden Boy. I think Guzman would be a tougher fight than Soto provided he doesn't come in fat which is not a given.

Valero and Barrera are GBP boxers. Valero would be a good fight but I've been hearing rumors that he is having an extremely hard time making 130 and may move up to 135. Barrera vs Pacquiao would only be about money, Pacquaio already went down that road and stomped all over it.

Guzman is co-promoted by Sycuan and Golden Boy. That's what Sycuan does best - they bring you to a certain point, then pimp you out to every promoter in the game.

In the past three years, the following have all been able to claim options/promotional rights on Guzman:
    - Sycuan
    - Warren
    - Zanfer (Mexican-based group)
    - Golden Boy
    - Goossen-Tutor

    ....

Valero isn't necessarily promoted by GBP. Depends where they would fight at I think. I'd rather see Pacquiao fight Soto than Valero anyways. Soto is better than Valero.

he will fight soto because that's all Arum can provide. not a bad fight but not the best to make at 130, Actually soto is the less proven from all the big names at 130.

I guess after Soto beats the hell out of Bobby that will be enought warrant the fight.

i think Soto beats Barrera. not sure about the others, but he'd be a very live guy against any of them.

sure he is a good fighter and I wanna see him against the top guys. But let's be real he will fight Manny only cause ARum promotes him and that's the biggest fight he can deliver for Manny at 130

So Soto-Pacquiao is a bigger fight than Pac-Valero? I think Soto is a better fighter than Valero, but Valero is certainly a bigger fight. Until Valero gets cleared to fight in the US, GBP isn't going to bother with him.

i think he's saying the exact opposite - that pacquiao/soto is NOT a big fight, and that the only reason anyone's talking about it is because TR promoters both.

but i disagree. while some of the other match-ups are certainly more attractive, Pacquiao/Soto is high on my list of fights i'd like to see. so it's not too bad of a compromise although it certainly doesn't excuse the petty shit that has apparently gotten in the way of a Pacquiao/JMM or Pacquiao/Barrera rematch.

what i don't get is why Barrera doesn't insist on a Pacquiao rematch, and do whatever he needs to do financially to make it happen. it's virtual proof that he has no faith whatsoever in his ability to win.

I have no interest in Pac-MAB II, it's a mismatch and I saw a better version of MAB whooped by Pac already. As for the post of mine that you responded to I was being sarcastic. Pac-Soto is not the biggest or best fight he can get for Pacquiao. Although it is damn interesting and I think Soto would have a good shot to win.

For all of the talks about Arum wanting to bring Pac to Macau for the launching of Steve Wynn's new hotel, you'd think a Pac-Valero fight in Asia would be doable. Not that everywhere in Asia is around the corner from each other  ... but it's not a fight that's limited to the US, and in fact would be that much bigger over there.

Also for what it's worth, Arum was looking into Vancouver as the location for Pac's next fight (in October). If so, Pac-Valero is doable there as well, since Valero's ban is only limited to the US.

I wonder what kind of odds Valdarver will get on Pac from the Macau casinos.

I'm considering Jessica Alba, Anna Kournikova, Alison Stokke, and my girlfriend for my next roll in the hay, in case anyone cares.

Maybe I can help promote the Pacqiao Soto fight now?
