Its here in my hometown and I'll be there! Representing my gym, Spokane Boxing, is Chauncey Welliver. A good kid, and a friend of mine. Check it out on ESPN tonight. Post on this thread what you think of his performance.:cheer:

P.S. I'll be three rows back. Shaved head with my son(blonde hair). Let me know if you see me!:cheer:

yeah everyone seemed to be under the impression that Big Zo Butler was gonna be on The Deuce tonight. I kept telling everyone it was Marcos Ramirez (he was on ESPN at this exact time last year).

anyway, best of luck to Chauncey. Couldn't care less about Zo, and if he's fighting an actual heavyweight, then beware of shattered glass flying into the crowd

The ball game is still on right now, but I can't wait to see Chauncey.
Hope they switch over to the fights soon.

When the hell did the fights come on. I turned it on at 10:15 and ESPN2 was blacked out in my area. :dunno:

Man, I blew that one out of it. I was told they will show it next Wed.:dunno:

The fights were great, my son loved it. It was his first pro boxing experience, he's been training for almost a year now. He got to be in the back with Chauncey, so it really made my day watching him soak it all in. Chauncey put on a good show, 6 round tko, took a little long IMO, but good. Butler scored a 1st round ko over West. West looked horrible. One of the worst pro fighters with more than 20 fights I have ever seen. He was so bad it was embarassing they had him in the main event.

Just curious, has anyone ever experienced this. I took a sign with me(I know, I'm a fucking dork:lol: ) it was just to say hi to everyone on the board. It said "WAR Fightbeat!" with Jarhead underneath. The Casino said I couldn't have it because ESPN didn't want it on the air. I have seen numerous signs on ESPN coverage. Didn't make any sense to me. Something tells me it was the Casino, what do you guys think?

they don't want free advertising. otherwise, who would pay for it. if your sign had said ESPN they might have allowed it.

I;'m not sure why they would tell you it's going to be on ESPN next week. I haven't known them to ever show a week-long delayed broadcast, much less of a club show.

Anyway, glad to hear Chauncey won. He's not the next great heavyweight, but he's good people and I'm glad to see him continue to succeed.

Agreed, I think Chauncey knows he's not the next great HW:lol: , he told me he feels pretty lucky to be able to make an ok living boxing. He's a great guy, and is really good with the kids in the gym.

The ESPN workers last night told me it would be aired next week, but Jake says otherwise. I think I'll go with Jake's word over a roadie:lol:

Maybe it will air next week - they have nothing scheduled for Wednesday Night Fights on June 6, so who knows. Just seems weird that they'd use a club show as a time slot filler

EDIT: I stand corrected. On June 6, ESPN2 is airing the Women's College Softball World Series. Presented by DICK's Sporting Goods

I agree. I have never seen Teddy as far off as he was on that fight. I thought it was clear that Ramirez was controlling the fight throughout. He landed almost all of the significant shots.

Good fight, but I saw it as a pretty clear 8-4 or 9-3 fight.
