Saw clips of this guy on In This Corner (A Canadian Boxing Show). Really quick hands, seems to hit with power and is a really sharp puncher. He recently had a second round KO. Apparently he was an Olympic gold medallist.

He doesn't seem to fight like other Euro heavies like Klit brothers, Valuev, etc. Although he does resemble Ibragimov a little bit, just with more skill.

Anybody seen him in other fights?

Only seen a few of his fight on youtube...he has improved alot since his early fights..he look slow and clumsy...but in his last few fight he looks a bit like Ike Ibeabuchi..esp. in his last 2/3 fights..

Wlad, Vitali, Valuev and Ibragimov don't fight anything alike either,..:nono:

As far as Povetkin is concerned, I think he's a bust, nowhere near worthy of the hype he's recieving, he think he's invincible and is therefore careless and doesn't look well conditioned either, his defence is poor, I think he might be one of those fighters out of the amatuers that need an arsewhipping first, before they go anywhere. :nono:

I saw his last 2 fights, to be honest I think he can fight.

Quick hands for a heavyweight, decent puncher, not devastating but he has some pop. And quite a pleasing style.

I like him. I prefer him to all the other soviet heavies out there right now.

He's really really skilled, if his chin and heart hold up, he'll be a major force in the division.

They look similar and have the same physical shape, otherwise it doesn't stand out for me either :dunno:

yeah, i don't see that at all. Povetkin looks like the truth, from where I'm sitting. you gotta respect the fact that he's not only taking on solid competition early in his career, but on most occasions running through them.

not that Barrett is any great shakes, but i;m surprised Povetkin's already stepping up to someone like him next month. He's about to shit on Hasim Rahman's biggest post-Lewis I achievement

Definitely Axel Schultz II. Not that I think thats any slight. Schultz was something I doubt that Povetkin ever becomes; the heavyweight champion of the world.

    Awesome, Jake's a believer.

And yes, he hasn't faced any hall of famers yet sure, but stop and think - he's only just out of his first 10 fights.

For the first 10 or so fights, his opp is very respectable. He is obviously not a scaredy pussy.

He is certainly not a big heavy by today's standards, but not tiny either.

How do you think he'd fare let's say, a few fights away, against some of today's "top" heavies Jake?
