:lol:Just so you know, Rahman went on record and admitted that he's never even come close to putting up 500lbs. Just so you know. These internet/trainer stories sure are far fetched.

Did you also notice that alot of these El loco toughies don't act so hard when they're not in groups? Even Mike Tyson said this during his prison stint. He said there were a whole bunch of chicken sh*ts on the prison grounds who tried to act the part when they had their boys around but one to one they were pussies just like the majority of people in the world. That's how we are, dsimon. That's human nature.
Same goes for these kids who try to run the streets and parks. Yeah I can threaten to bury somebody when I got my homies around me.

Fighting is a skill, dsimon. And alot of these internet street-fighting videos consisting of gang members are just that. You don't want a pro boxer or elite mma fighter walking these streets. That's where you find the significant difference between so-called 'street fighters' and real fighters.
There's no reason why a world class boxer can't kill a person on the street. Most people don't know how to fight, and that goes for these El loco types too. You can't be a fighter if you haven't trained in fighting.
You'd know that better than anybody.
And Hasim Rahman wasn't any kind of hot-sh*t. He just got into a few scuffles with some street bums and used that as having street-cred. How many of these street fighting videos do you see of tatooed little sh*ts who boast having 255-0 win/loss records on the streets?

yeah street fighting is different but make no mistake about it it is a skill! Rahman was an enforcer for a Baltimore gang. This isn't the same as a few odd scuffles, not by any stretch of the imagination.

It's easy to understand why they'd want Rahman from a marketing stand point...let alone a boxing one.

Rahman, despite the ups and many downs in his career, has become a pretty well known heavyweight, he's got personality, is a great salesman and an entertaining interview, and will likely generate more interest in the US than a unification with someone like Chagaev.

If Klitschko's camp wants to have his fall fight in the US, they likely need an American opponent and Rahman fits that bill.

Plus, in fighting Rahman they bring in Bob Arum and Top Rank...and since K2 doesn't exactly have the biggest stable of fighters, it helps from that promotional perspective as well.

As for boxing reasons, it's probably even more understandable. Rahman is a limited fighter, and while his best asset is a very good jab, Klitschko has a better one. That's the key to the fight. Rahman's jab could have some success early on, but I think in rounds 3-5 Klitschko's jab becomes the dominant punch in the fight and the knockout then follows.

Unification, no exceptions. Fuck Rahman, it goes to show the sad state of boxing, you don't have to put in the hard work to keep your title, you can lose and still be granted another shot straight away, in the case of Zab Judah he's got 9 lives with suspensions thrown in between  .

Kauki, on a slightly different note, did you know that Vince Philips was coming off of a loss, when he beat your favorite bitch into submission?

Well Vince had a man's style Dympeople, Kostya only took care of girls who ran from corner to corner and were scared to engage.

The man's lost so many times we've lost count. Americans no longer adore a f*cking loser, no matter if he can talk sh*t. How do fans buy into his sh*t talking when he keeps getting KTFO everytime he steps up? Even his biggest jock rider Kellerman is done with him.

That's what helped snap the brains of many messageboard trolls Dympeople, the fact that Tszyu couldn't handle male styles such as the sluggers and swarmers like Vince and Ricky, but when faced with 'flashy' 'multi dimensional' 'slick' 'p4p' shit, he BLASTED them with such heartbreaking EASE that it distilled insurmountable hatred in individuals who till this day, continue to show symptoms of 'night terrors' on messageboards, even though he retired a long time ago :dunno: .

I don't know. I've never seen anything regarding 'professional street-fighting'.:dunno:
Maybe you could locate a few local 'street fighting' dojos for me dsimon.
I heard Tank Abbot from the early UFC was a very dangerous man on the street and in the bars. Although he was never able to do much inside the octagon.

On the contrary, regardless of what happens tonight, the result shall only serve to steel my resolve as I continue on my anti-Briggs campaign. :tease:

BTW, I believe tonight should begin our libation wagers.

I figure for every Briggs or Klitschko fight until they actually fight each other - if they ever do - we should have a friendly liquid wager.

A Briggs win or Klitschko loss shall be a tally for 'ol DS, with the opposite garnering a mark in Mitchell's column.

What do you say, my transplanted Bay Area neighbor?

Well, nothing can match Kellerman's d*ck-riding leading up to the Lewis rematch, when he was having to towel himself off after every time Rock opened his mouth.

That trip to the cardiologist didn't exactly turn out quite as Has-been expected.

Still, though, there's few heavyweights Americans "adore", period. Rahman is still a recognizable name to US fans...unfortunately that's more than can be said for Ruslan Chagaev or Sultan Ibragimov.

Rahman will bring some attention to the fight.

It appears that's all Klitschko's camp wants out of his next appearance (after Brewster) if they're talking to Rahman in the first place.

I thought everybody wanted to see a unified champion? That means we should be pulling for Chagaev/Maskaev or Chagaev/Klitschko or whatever. Rahman is back to fighting in ballrooms so I don't see how he fits in any of this. He's just going to get KO'd again anyway. He should go back to enforcing his gang in the mean streets of Baltimore.

    Who is everybody?

The same everybody that was calling for Brewster and Liakhovich and Valuev to unify when they were champions?

The current crop of titlists haven't even had the belts long enough to garner much individual support or backing for a bout with Klitschko.

And the WBC belt shouldn't even really be in the discussion for the time being.

I'm quoting this before reaching the end of the thread, so apologies if my retort has already been forthcoming.

Wlad never rematched Ross Purrity or Corrie Sanders. He had his brother take care of the family business.

With all due respect, I would say that is being "scared and protected".

I hate to disappoint you again, Kauki, but Tszyu never faced any P4P fighters, that's why his career is deservedly viewed as a joke.

I love you Hanzy but you are being ignorant. People in martial arts and fighitng in general are prepared for what they train to do. If you train to fight in a ring with certain restrictions you will excel in that environement. There are guys who grew up hard and are viscious who would not do well in a ring but who I would take with me down any dark alley. And there are weapons that are used that some guys can use and integrate in with their fighting.

Rahman´s resume in the last 3 years will be worse than Povetkin´s by the time Rahman is supposed to fight Wlad.

Sorry dsimon, I don't want to come across as ignorant. I just haven't seen these types of guys you mention. Never have in my life, not even on videotape nor on the internet. If you happen to find any footage of these El Loco types, shoot me a pm. All I've ever seen are crap like bum fights, even those between gangs where 2 idiots talk alot of sh*t and don't have a clue what they're doing in a fight other than wailing away like morons.:dunno:
I'm not talking about weapons on the street, I'm talking hand to hand. I'd like to see some film on these street warriors.
There's nothing on the street that I feel would have a prayer against a legitimate trained fighter. 99% of the people out there can't fight.
If you're saying these El Loco types fight like those raging people from 28 Days Later, then I'd believe you for sure!!!!
I also don't feel martial artists only train under certain restrictions. Every style in Martial Arts educates people to defend themselves in any situation. Bruce Lee himself was praising fingers to the eyes, chops to the throats, kicks to the nuts and all. His philosophy was completely for street situations. And I believe any martial artist who trains doesn't do so thinking he's only at it for the sake of scoring points in a competition.
CroCop, Emelianenko, and all them can be deadly in any environment. You can't just tell me that some street toughs/gang members from the worst parts of the world are gonna be taking out legit fighters just cause they're fighting on the street. If you're bringing weapons into this argument then that's a whole other debate.

True. But don't you think that a K1 level fighter who practices 800 kicks daily will have a better chance kicking your nutsack than you would if you don't practice kicking for a living?:dunno:

First off, I like Ratton, his humor is wonderful and on a basic level he covers good ground. But understand this guys, when one of the combatives guys says that all it takes to beat a MMA guy is to poke an eye there is a tendency to call bullshit and rightly so. The same logic applies in reverse... Fighting scenerios in real situations involve different variables than fights in the ring, including weapons, multiple attackers, etc.

The training is different and it is naive to think that a gifted athlete can automatically adjust to all situations. Hanzy you are naive if you think a gifted athlete is trained to deal with all situations automatically. Many of the same approaches to training and setting up techniques in MMA would get you killed in other scenerios.

A picture is worth a thousand words and Hanzy, you being my buddy I wish you coud come by for my class so I could show you, for example, the difference between choking somoene in a judo match and when you have to pull them out of sight (if they are a sentry).

I have told this story before and it is the best example of what I am trying to say. Douglas Fairbaines documented fights that were occuring in Vietnam. He described the fights as all following a similar trajectory: One guy would beat the other guy to within an inch of his life, put the guy in the mount position. As he was about to finish the beaten foe, the beaten foe would, as he was being owned, pull out a knife stab the guy in the mount in the kidneys and kill him. You see my point?

I don't believe in any concept of a martial artist frankly... this is after years of training as one:lol: . People excel at what they are trained to do... period. Bruce Lee wouldn't have done well in the ring, he didn't train to fight in the ring. The same things that make Cro Cop kick ass in the ring might well expose him to a hidden weapon on the street.

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying. I thought we were talking about purely hand to hand on the street. I didn't realize we were talking about guys pulling out knives and all that. If that's the case, then I think the most dangerous street fighter out there is a marks-man.
