Hatton is finally facing a real threat and real prospect of losing. Well he did face one (after 43 years as a pro) in Cotya "what a let down" Zoo. Zoo sucks ... :flip:

Shrewd and competent punching Kastilo is well made to punch that Ricky "No defence" Hatton's face to a pulp.

Hatton will bleed like a bitch.

Hopefully we will have a good, no-nonsense ref unlike the incompetent idiot who allowed Hatton to get away with felonies when he fought Zoo.

Quitya Zoo does indeed suck and Castillo is the most distinguished and dangerous opponent of Hatton's career. Castiilo defeated Casamajor, Stevie Johnston, Chico Corrales, while Zoo's biggest victory is over the mighty Sharmba.

Tszyu beats Hatton everywhere except in England.

Castillo should be able to beat Hatton too. But I'm worried about a few things:

    1. Castillo is getting long in the tooth and has definitely lost some of his speed and reflexes
    2. They're wearing 10 oz gloves, which will no doubt rob Castillo of some of the sting from his heavy hands
    3. Hatton is a horrible and blatant grappler and depending on the referee, this could hinder Castillo's inside work.

What's funny is that Hatton has everyone fooled, thinking he has tremendous stamina. But in fact, his non-stop holding allows him the luxury of resting for nearly 3/4 of every round, and in some cases, the whole round. How the hell is that good stamina?

I fear that like Tszyu, Hatton is getting Castillo at the end of his career, when he's no longer the threat that he once was. Believe me, I hope that I'm wrong. But part of me can't shake the idea that Hatton is trying to trick us.

I'm picking Castillo. I see him busting up Ricky in the long run. But more than anything, I just hope its a good fight. If Hatton wins its fine with me, if the fight is a war. I'm so scared this is gonna turn into an unwatchable grapple fest, given the history of both.

Castillo didn't grapple with Corrales, he threw leather. Hatton is the one trying to grope everybody, to the point where it's illegal.

exactly. it's totally unfair to suggest that Castillo has a history of grappling. he has a history of being grappled - because he likes to fight inside and guys hold him in order to neutralize him. but left to his own devices he's not gonna hold in there - he's gonna fight.

the only holding he himself initiated has been to intefere with the movement of guys like PBF and Casamayor. but it was minimal and never created the kind of tedious stop and start bore-fest that Hatton has become known for.

castillo lacks power at 140. only way i see him winning is if he busts hatton up and cut him. hatton's physically stronger and should be able to push castillo around. a pick'em fight, but i slightly favor hatton on points.

are you saying that at 140 and with 10 oz gloves, in 2007, and in the wake of his war with Corrales, that Castillo isn't past his best? and fighting under less than ideal circumstances? let's face it, Hatton couldn't be getting him at a better time. all i'm saying is, a win over a faded Castillo with 10 oz gloves has to be put into perspective.

i think castillo is past his prime. but then again, Hatton hasn't looked great since beating Tszyu. they share a combined record of 100 some fights. neither are in their physical peak imo.

Well, pick Hatton then if you think Castillo is that faded and don't bring it up after the fact. That's the thing, you pick Castillo but you list us all possible excuse you'll use if Castillo loses. Basically, you can't be wrong about this fight. And above all, it's written in the sky that you won't give any credit to Hatton no matter how the fight goes.

not that we need any clues to figure out who you'd pick in any fight involving Castillo....

but the "Castillo TKO9 Hatton" in your sig is a bit of a give-away

You had in your sig "Castillo TKO 9 Hatton" for months and you said "Castillo should be able to beat Hatton too." and you wonder why I think you're picking Castillo? You made a list of possible cause of defeat that has nothing to do with what Hatton can do (except grapple) but excuses for Castillo in case of a defeat. I said "after the fact" because I know that if Hatton wins, you'll bring one of these things up no matter how the fight goes. That's why I said that if you think Castillo is shot or 10oz gloves will make it impossible for him to win, then pick Hatton.
