nice! awesome fight. and i don't rule out a Barrios victory here, as good as JMM is. what i'm pleased about is that JMM, unlike his country-man MAB, isn't taking on a 126 pound guy moving up. Instead, he's taking on a legitimate 130 pounder. Arguably, Barrios is better than anyone Pacquiao's beaten at 130.

    .....

Why is Barrios getting a title shot? He came in overweight for his last meaningfull fight and lost.

you're smokin if you think Barrios is better than the 130 Morales that beat Manny in their first fight. Hell I doubt he is better than the rematch version

and this fight is ass IMO especially when there are other guys out there he could fight. Isn't B Pac and Soto fighting for the next highest ranking?

and to boot Barrios needs to make sure he gets to 130 again. Granted he made it his last time out but dude was way overweight on his first attempt against Guzman.

this fight is pathetic as a PPV. I'm sure it will be a fun action fight, but no way in hell does Barrios deserve to jump ahead of:

    Pacquiao
    Barrera
    Soto
    Guzman
    Valero

... to get this shot, and in a PPV main event, no less.

The fact that GBP is doing their stupid Boxing "World" Cup tournament the month before AND that Schaefer has already confirmed Shane WILL NOT appear on this card, doesn't give very much hope for a decent undercard. And this is NOT a standalone PPV event.

see Erratic's sig for my overall thoughts on GBP.

Actually I'm not too excited about this fight. I was expecting something bigger after the Barrera fight.

It would have been better if they waited after this weekend and make Marquez/Soto for September.

I think Barrios will make it competitive but he will get schooled regardless.

Hopefully it will have a decent undercard.

I dont' think Barrios is jumping ahead of Pacquiao or Barrera. I think it's more about GB not being able to make a fight with Pacquiao which wasn't a secret. And god knows what's BArrera's status with GB. Apparently it's not a smooth one at the moment.

I think the third option behind those two should be Soto and it's kind of silly that they announced this fight two days before Soto's fight.

but there is also Soto and should he beat Bobby Pac then he becomes the highest ranked opponent for Marquez so they did skip over that aspect.

Barrera's status is one fight with GBP and thats it. He is waiting shit out until he decides what he wants to do next but you are right he is not happy. He has a perception that GBO has treated him unfairly

I know that politics prevent at least two of the fights from happening (Pac-JMM II, Soto-JMM). But that's my whole point - and unforgivable that instead of giving us the only fight that matters, rival promoters instead give us separate PPV's.

This matchup illustrates what's wrong with boxing. What the fuck has Barrios done to derserve a shot at Fagquez's belts? He's in Dela Joto's stable. Fuck GBP. Dela Joto made this big speech about how he was going to change boxing when he became a full-time promoter and be out there for boxing's and the fighter's best interest. What a load of shit, Dela Joto is just a Don Kong or Arum in the making.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barrios beat Fagquez the way he's been looking lately. I would be cracking up if that happened. In fact I'll buy it just because it has a likely chance of happening.

dude I already said I rather see other fights rather than Barrios! I said they should have waited for Soto to beat the one trick pony's brother on saturday and make that fight instead. :kick:

Fagquez-Soto would be very uncompetitive. Soto has every physical and style advantage. Complete destruction. Golden Girl would never make this matchup, ever.

JMM/Barrios should NOT be on PPV. This is fking bull-shit !!! Fk GBP. If they want a PPV show, then have him fight a PPV-worthy opponent. WTF? I didn't see that this was PPV. I cannot endorse this match-up. Maybe for a BAD card it'd be acceptable. But PPV? GBP can sk my cck.

check my second post. i didn't realize it was PPV. as a BAD or even WCB card, it wouldn't be bad. but i agree with everyone that as a PPV match-up it is crap.

    As to PBF,
    Barrios>Baldomir
    Barrios>Brusseles
    Barrios>Mitchell @147

So I was well within my right to bitch and moan about those match-up. :tease:

You weren't bitching about Floyd-Baldomir until after the fight. I guess it's a revisionist history thing since you hate Floyd.

well, i'll say this: when PBF was intending on fighting Spinks instead of Baldomir, i was pissed. so when he did end up fighting Baldomir i couldn't complain. but that doesn't mean Baldomir was a good opponent.

It'll be on HBO the next week, so why complain. It better be a damn good undercard.
