Golota-Bates is coming on in a few minutes. They finished showing the last three rounds of two guys whose names I can't pronounce or spell without looking it up

Zegan lost to a journeyman. Being on the wrong side of the worst decision in German history since Operation Barbarossa will be his crowning achievement.

Has Golota even fought since the Brewster loss? I wonder if Bates has any shot at all.

    Andrew Golota (38-6-1, 31KO)
    vs. Jeremy Bates (21-13-1, 18KO)
Scheduled for 10 rounds or less

Golota's first fight since May 2005, when Lamon ran his ass outta the ring in less than a minute.

Stupid stat of the day: Between the two, they are 0-6-1 (4 KO losses) in their last seven fights.

    Round 1:
Golota throws downstairs at the start of the fight. Bates right hand blocked. Golota jabs, Bates misses with counter and clinches. Bates trying to work behind jab. Golota double jabs, throws left hook. Golota's jab effective through the first minute. Left hook to the body and head by Golota, rocks Bates, who is clinching in attempt to get his head cleared. Right uppercut, left hook by Golota, both partially blocked. Golota lands to the body, Bates stunned, clinches. Golota lands behind the ear, warned for rabbit punching. Body shot by Golota. First round all Golota, not a lot of action, but Bates literally did nothing but absorb and clinch.

    Golota 10-9

Fuck, ring announcer is Polish, and nobody at ringside to translate. So, you'll just have to live with Golota TKO2 Bates - it was toward the end of the 2nd round.

Edit: according to the replay, 2:53 of round 2. (seven seconds left in the round)

Fighting Holyfield was the best thing that ever happened to Bates. Now he will make more money and TV appearances as "Bum to the Stars" in the heavyweight division.

It's not unfair to say he looked better than Holyfield, at least far less rusty. That's not to say Golota beats Holyfield right now - but Bates had his moments against Oldyfield (though few and far between), whereas this fight was all Golota. Methinks Bates is permanently shook. He started out wanting to fight, but went into absorb-and-clinch mode fairly early in the fight
