I don't know. Mayweather by boring UD is probably the safe pick, but I think Cotto may pull off the upset. I'll have to watch some of Cotto's fights again (and whatever fights take place in the future before a possible PBF-Cotto fight occurs) to make a prediction.
i think at this stage in his career, Cotto is more fierce and hungrier than ODH. and that could make the difference. whereas ODH was afraid of being made to look silly, i think Cotto would throw balls to the walls and go homicide on PBF. and that may be what it takes to beat him.
Cotto is indeed younger and fresher than Oscar and probably hungrier. The styles of the two are obviously different. Cotto lacks the range and height of Oscar, but he's a better attacker at range. Oscar should have jabbed more but tried to hard to pressure Floyd with his sloppy quick combos....Cotto, while not the quickest guy, throws pretty fluid combos. Floyd does have a way of making guys get more sloppy or frustrated due to his speed and defensive skills, but Cotto is a pretty determined guy who keeps composed. It's a very interesting matchup and one that I would love to see.
That IS What it'll Take to Win... Even a Normally NON-Aggressive Sort like Tarver had to BRING the Fight to Roy to KO him...Floyd's No Different...U CAN'T B Cautious & Expect to Beat him... Like U Said,Cotto's MORE than Willing to Endure WHATEVER,to Stay Close to Floyd... Floyd by UD is the Most LOGICAL Outcome, but U Can't Completely Rule Out a Cotto Victory... REED
I hope Cotto goes chiropracter on his arse, and cracks that back, blast the shit out of that illegal style, or atleast bring it into focus,..get people asking questions like "well where else is he supposed to hit him?"...or start up several widespread articles questioning the fairness of that "shoulder roll" horseshit, a style that allows a fighter to defend half thier critical openings without even using thier gloves.
I gotta agree... Floyd's feet carry him (literally) to a boring, little contact, close but clear UD...
I agree with your post. I think Floyd will beat Cotto by dec. Cotto will go for broke and thats what it will take to beat Mayweather. However Floyd is a defensive genius and I just cant see Cotto landing enough clean punches to do any damage. His best bet would be if he can hurt PBF shoulders or elbows, shit anything to have a chance.
MY only hesitation in picking Cotto is his leaky defense. Floyd won't necessarily engage with Cotto, but he will pot shot the hell out of him and slice him apart with counters for as long as he can keep Cotto off of him. I see Floyd winning a UD, but not necessarily while in safe mode. I think Cotto will bring the best out of Floyd, in which case we get a clear (not necessarily wide) decision in a fast-paced chess match, with Cotto always one move behind.
If Cotto can be a little less patient and disciplined than usual, and go a bit more Duran on Floyd, a bit more gung ho, but with skill of course, and behind his powerful jab to offset floyd's rhythm (as castillo did with floyd first time around) he'll win. Oscar did surprisingly well given his lack of activity and "gung ho" ness. Cotto is never discouraged, and never stops coming, if he can keep this pressure up against floyd, and keep active enough and jab enough he'll bust floyd up.
Cotto is too patient, by nature, to beat Floyd. He's not a Hatton type whirlwind...he's all about controlled agression. As such Floyd would potshot him for the most part and win a 9-3 type decision with a late stoppage a distinct possibility.
Laugh it up. You laughed the same way when anyone suggested that PBF could go up to 154lbs and defeat Oscar. You aint laughing now. :tease:
no. mainly i laughed at the possibility that PBF would stop ODH - which is what your prediction was if i'm not mistaken. no?
Well, truth be told, neither of you should comment on either of these two. Lets not forget; you picked not only Oscar to beat Mayweather....you picked Baldomir too. Henceforth anytime "Mayweather" is in the subject line of a thread; you're not be allowed to enter it. :nono:
no. My official prediction was PBF by decision. You laughed at anyone who suggested (over a year ago) that Floyd could possibly beat De La Hoya at 154lbs. You acted as though it was MADNESS (noooo...this is SPARTA!!) . Don't try to deny it. You thought that PBF beating De La Hoya was next to impossible and laughable. If you deny it I'll get someone to dig up the old threads and prove you a liar! :tease:
now you too?!!! so you think i was just hedging when i said it was for moral support? that i "actually" thought Baldomir would win?
It figures. The mere fact that you started this thread let's us all know you pick Cotto so you didn't really have to bother explaining who you pick and why. The who because we all know you wouldn't start a thread where you may actually concede Floyd wins and the why because you're terribly wrong 95% of the time so we don't give a shit. You don't really have to post Double... just lurk in whatever thread you wanna state your opinion on and we will already know how you feel about it. Thank you very much. :)
Cotto would give Floyd a much harder fight than Hatton would. Floyd would wipe his ass with Hatton, with Cotto, he'll have rough moments.
At this stage of their careers and at the weight the fight would be, I wouldn't really be surprised to see Cotto outwork Floyd.
was it something i said? now that i'm finished reading your post i'm pretty sure we'd all be better off had you not bothered to write it. i mean really. what's your beef? because there's a fighter i don't like and want to see lose? you take it personally like i'm not allowed to dislike certain fighters? and to top it off you pick Cotto to win?
No beef at all, just a lil' passion of mine exposing how obvious you're dude. You're allowed to blindly hate a guy I guess, just don't try to pass your opinion or yourself as serious and objective. Didn't pick Cotto btw, just said he'll have a great shot at this point.
