The MUTHAF&%$@# never EVER answers a straight question about who he wants to fight next! All we ever hear is "talk to the boss...he puts the fights together".

    Doesn't this F%^&*$# have a mind of his own?:flip:

Or he could be like Floyd and refuse to fight everyone because he doesn't know who they are or he feels they're not worthy of fighting him.

Yeah, but at least he said something....he didn't just say "ask my manager" like a shy little adolescent cunt would.

Who cares, though? He's fighting Margarito next, should Margarito get past Williams. On this particular occasion, he deserves a pass. There's no need to call out anyone else, because he already knows who he's fighting next.

And since Floyd's name has been mentioned - when has he ever given a straight answer to such a question? No, he doesn't defer to "ask my people", but more than 50% of his responses are straight out of the Bob Arum's playbook - "yesterday I'm lying, today I'm telling the truth."

    That fight was about money.

Outside of fighting Oscar again, who else has Floyd said he'd fight?

besides, Floyd spent the better part of 4 years making excuses as to why he wouldn't fight guys.

    Hatton, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley...

    Exactly.

Mayweather fans who are critical of Cotto not answering the question outright are as hypocritical as R. Kelly fans looking down on Michael Jackson fans for supporting a pedofile.

Thats a stupid ass reason to dislike Cotto. Especially when not only Floyd doesnt answer questions like this, but Roy didnt either. Hell, neither did Tyson. Mike in his prime when asked such a question would always say somethin like "I'll fight anyone they put in front of me" he never gave a straight answer. So Mr. Sly you are a hypocrite for disliking Cotto for a such a reason.

    I know...that's a dumbass reason.

How many times have we heard Floyd say, "I don't care. You bring 'em and I'll take 'em."

(then he fights Bruseles, Chop Chop etc).

The "onliest" time I recall Floyd specifically calling a name after a fight was when he was angling for a fight with Naseem Hamed.

True, I think approximately 0.0001% of the things that Floyd says should be taken seriously.

It standard M.O. for fans to hyperbolize a guy after a good/great performance.

There were many things that impressed me about Cotto's win last Saturday night, but once the glow of that performance fades there are defencies in his game that will be liabilities against other top guys.

None of that changes the fact that he stepped up in a big fight and won impressively. I'm sure he gained as many fans in whipping Judah as Mayweather lost in the wake of the De La Hoya fight. However, neither win makes either guy any better or worse..

i sort of like Cotto's mentality when it comes to opponent selection and his lack of preference either way. he's sort of like a hit-man in that sense. "tell me who it is, and i'll take care of him." i just wish it would translate to his taking on the biggest names, and so far it hasn't. but what Cotto probably knows, or at least what he's come to accept, is that at the end of the day Arum is going to decide who he fights, so he figures, "why bother throwing out names of fighters I'm not sure I can face?"

i think it's Cotto's failure thus far to make the big fight that bothers me moreso than his unwillingness to call anyone out.

It's interesting that you said this. I got the impression that Oscar and Floyd both lost respect after their fight. While many didn't argue with the decision, most were disappointed in the fight itself.

We talked about this at the time, but a solid undercard with a fight such as Cotto-Judah would have helped boxing.

Oscar had the old, underdog thing on his side.. All he had to do was be competitive and push the fight to impress fans..

Mayweather, as the self proclaimed P4P king, had more pressure to look good. He didn't and as a result probably lost some fan base..

    Obviously that's just my opinion.
