You know, Ever since first watching Zab, I thought WOW! This cat is FAST!!! I believe that Zab really doesn't know how to box. I think he goes in, clowns, puts his hands low, jumps around and shoots far out straight lefts.. He does so and gets away with it to a point. Just like Roy fought techinically inncorrect, but Roy I feel DID have an understanding for boxing and is super gifted. I feel Zab just does shit as it comes, no plan, just speed I was talking to an old friend tonight, a great boxing guy, he was saying how he saw clips of Zab in the AMs and he looked spectacular, people would actually change divisions to avoid fighting him. I think this was part of his demise, his dad blows as a trainer and thought he really did not NEED to learn much cuz he was already awesome. Just pisses me off when I see guys with that type of RAW Talent, With Zab's speed, he should NOT be getting hit with 90 power punches or whatever it was by Cotto.. with his speed, if he just did one thing... and it's a boxing mantra "KEEP YOUR HANDS UP" if Zab protected himself a LITTLE.. he'd be in a whole different league..
I used to enjoy Yoel Judah in the corner because he was hilarious. Like in the Corley fight when he started singing and dancing between rounds. :: sometimes he looks like he might hit zab throwing so many punches at him. But Now it's just annoying cause it doens't help. But I don't think Zab would ever leave his dad and even if he did it is too late for him to change. When his biggest problem has been mental not physically. Zab is on his way down.
Yoel is a classic hear him trying to motivate Judah between rounds by saying - "larry merchane over there is talking shit about you" :: ________ BLONDE BEAUTY
..and to this day people are still saying it, that's why he gets away with being inserted into what promoters can still call "megafights",.. Fast!...fast!...awwww he's sooo fast!.. he's quick n slick n good n skillz n power n all dat $hit,...:shit:
:: But you still in particular pick him to beat Margarito and Cintron,...and I've seen a few others around here claim he can beat Joshua Clottey,....the world is still his oyster at welterweight apparently,...:: ,....he is hands down the most overrated fighter in the sport, his speed gives him this delusional immunity, and 'clowns' like you don't even realise your under a spell :nono:.
I never picked him over Margarito. But he could beat Cintron! Zab has beaten several fighters better than Cintron. What's so great about Cintron? cause he won a fucking belt? To me Cintron will always be the guy who got sodomized but Margarito and cried afterwards. When Cintron fights and beats somebody of that caliber I will give him props. As bad as Judah has gotten he is is still better right now than Cintron. That is why I mentioned that fight as a winnable for him. Maybe the ony belt he can win but there is no reason to think otherwise kiwi.:kick:
:dunno: and Zab has given you a reason to think otherwise?..with your quote "on his way down" in mind, what do you think will happen when Zab get's hit with a heavy shot from the biggest opponent he's ever faced, (Cintron is the size of a supermiddleweight)..and what is Zab going to do when Cintron is still charging forwards looking to crush his tiny arse?.. Have you noticed a little pattern at all in Judah's last 3 losses...or..is Mr Handspeed creeping into your brain again and overuling the facts?..Cintron has displayed improved confidence and a newfound resilience through adversity in his last two fights against hard-hitting fully fledged welterweight opponents, against Mark Suarez he was particularly impressive, you'd have to be some sort of serote :crafty: to pick fucken Zab if you analyze thier current forms, just open your eyes buster. ....and what's that woman doing taking over your entire identity?..first it was your avatar, then like a weed she took over your signature space, and now you've installed links to various forums in worship of her,.....be careful my poor unstable Serote, :nono:..Michael Jackson too, had this problem with Diana Ross, it wasn't enough to obsess over her pictures...he had to become her, this may be what happens to you :nono:.
Zab is a guy who has talent and bags of potential IMO, He lost to top guys in his division and is still willing to fight anyone out there, he's gotta be due some credit for that.
Yoel's a Good CONDITIONER,but a TERRIBLE Strategist... He was Going HARD @ Zab on the Mitts...Throwing REAL Shots @ Zab that WOULD have Done Damage Had Zab NOT Evaded them...Even the Shots that Zab Picked Off w/his Arms were HARD... Zab's Almost ALWAYS N Excellent Shape...When has he EVER Looked FATIGUED N a Fight???:dunno: ... But as REED Said,Yoel ISN'T a Good FightNight Strategist...& Apparently he CAN'T Motivate Zab Either,Cause 1nce Zab LOSES that Confidence N HIMSELF N a Fight,he's DONE... REED
Zab did have the fundamentals of boxing, I've seen some of his early fights. He just doesn't have the mentality to succeed and at the same time you can't pin that on Yoel. Too often you see the trainer taking some of the blame that should all go to the fighter. If Judah won't throw shots there isn't a man in the building who can make him. You can try to motivate him but that doesn't mean it's going to work. By the way, I'd pick Cintron over Judah. Cintron's toughed out some wars lately, and that's more than Judah has shown he's willing to do lately. What Zab needs to do is go out and get some confidence wins. Even then I don't think he'll succeed the next time he steps it up again. He'll always be a hard shot away from mental breakdown.
I think threatening to stop the fight would have better a better idea, which he never thought of. Yoel imho is the WORST trainer in the biz, hands down. Zab having to beg them to work on his cut takes the cake for me and the fact that Yoel NEVER stepped out of the ring to let the cutman do his job is a disgrace. Yoel kept on telling Zab to kncok Cotto out in the late rounds but never gave him a gameplan. He is just a hairline above Panama Lewis as a trainer and that is not good and imho would be just as shiesty and dirty as Lewis if not for the greater measures in boxing in this day and age.
Wasn't Yoel's fault I say. He kept telling Zab to fight, Zab wouldn't, it's Zab's fault. I didn't see anything Yoel did wrong. What's the point of giving Zab a gameplan when he wasn't willing to do something as simple as even flick a jab out there. All Yoel could do was try to motivate him to fight and I felt he did a very good job in that. "You can lead a horse to water........"
dsimon writes: Agreed 100%:bears: Instead of all this non-specific talk of heart and desire, you broke it down to real terms. The bottom line is that Yoel sucks as a trainer, Zab has no technical ability (I noticed this years ago::) and tries to simply use his speed to overwhelm. Zab was as good long as he could get by with this natural ability.
dsimon writes: A lot of it is Yoel's fault bro. Good trainers give thier fighters directions. I could do what Yoel does, so could you.
Direction is phase 2. Zab hadn't accomplished phase 1 yet which was to throw fucking punches. He had to try to get Zab going before he could start strategizing. It's just like when Buddy McGirt spends 12 rds trying to get Tarver to throw punches, then people come on saying what a terrible trainer Buddy is. Fact is when a fighter gets in that mental state of not throwing punches it's almost impossible to get them out of it, especially for guys like Tarver and Judah who have a natual tendency to get like that.
That's it exactly. I don't think Zab gives a shit what Yoel says and it's to his detriment. Get some new blood in that corner. I don't think father/trainers are the way to go for ANY boxer. Too easy to treat his instructions the same way you would when he tells you to take out the garbage.
