That's my thing with him, he's a fantastic talent but doesn't always fight the big fights. At 130 he could have fought an undefeated Casamayor or Freitas but didn't (don't know who offered what or anything just that the fights didn't happen). He did fight the man at 135 in Castillo twice. At 140 he did nothing at all in what at the time was the deepest division in boxing. Then did next to nothing at 147 either, then takes Hoya at 154. This guy has no trouble making weight ever, is always in fantastic shape, hardly takes any damage during a fight and is heads and tails better then everyone but only fights twice a year and is very selective on who he fights. And now that 147 is a very talented division he says he's retired, it's a damn shame on all the potential great fights that aren't being made.

i mainly hate him since his move to 140, and his repeated failure to face the top guys in his divisions.

okay, so he gets a shot at ODH. he'd be a fool not to take that fight. but it doesn't excuse him from having to fight the top threats.

and what pisses me off, is that the way I see it, the way it processes in my head, is that he skipped all of those other fights - ones with Hatton or Cotto or Margarito and now Mosley, because he didn't wanna risk losing and not get his shot at ODH. so basically, he cherry picked his way through two divisions, was glorified by HBO, never really proved that much since his win over Castillo, and he gets the ODH fight, and then basically trots like a fucking deer to a points victory i don't think he even deserved.

and of course, it wouldn't be nearly as grating if he didn't talk so much shit and then never back it up.

basically, I think he's still writing checks on those wins at 130 and 135, and hasn't made many deposits since. but he's talkin louder than ever.

 

As a boxing fan, I am dissapointed that such a great talent does not seem to have what it takes to be a great fighter.
It's a shame. A talent like that comes along so rarely, as a boxing fan I feel cheated.
