Well, he was the recognized champ after Lennox left, and that makes him a force to be reckoned with....
He defeated Rahman, Holyfield, Golota, Oquendo....Schooled Valuev, but got robbed, handled Chagaev with ease.....Hell, a guy like Quitaly considered it to be an honor to fight Ruiz' leftovers.....

You picked Ruiz to knock him out in 2 rounds on the fightbeat homepage. Nice pick. :dunno:

Sadly JOHN RUIZ.....Vitaly greatest accomplishment is going rounds with an out of shape Lennox Lewis, a similar out of shape LL that Rahman had KOTFO in Africa....

But didn't Vitaly also almost not quit against Byrd? Didn't he also almost fight Haseem Rahman (a guy who Ruiz easily outboxed)?
Plus, to all the haters who like to claim that Vitaly never beat a world champion....what a bunch of bullshit.......Vitaly knocked out Orlin Norris, a former champion from one of the three main organizations....

John Ruiz was never beaten legitimatley. He was robbed. Johnnie did have a awful style in the ring but the bottom line is the man didnt duck anyone. His biggest mistake was leaving the US to fight.:blobbox:

Ruiz lost clearly and convincingly to Roy Jones.
He went 1-1-1 with an ancient Holyfield.
Ruiz is 0-2-1 in his last 3 fights. Clearly losing to Chagaev.

    He wasn't recognized anything.
    Rahman sucks.
    He went 1-1-1 with Holy.
    Golota was robbed.
He couldn't even beat the circus freak Valuev.
    He lost to Chagaev.

John couldn't save his marriage. Now he's saving a heavyweight division.

Which, for the record, doesn't need saving, it just needs leaving alone.
