Hatton may not have a fast flashy style, but he is very quick of hand and foot. Apart from youth etc, speed is going to be his main advantage. Also, Castillo has an edge in punching power. Though I feel some here underrate hatton's power. You don't take maussa out with 1 shot if you can't punch. Hatton's left hook is HARD. Only a hair less powerful than Castillo's. Viv was meant to be a puncher and his punches did nothing to maussa compared to hatton.
I've never really cared for these kinds of lists in boxing. The categories are too broad to really list accurately. A jab can be good because it's accurate, it's hard, it's thrown frequently, it's used to set up other punches, etc.
REED Thinks Castillo is a BETTER PUNCHER than Hatton..If Castillo's a "9",Hatton's More like a "7"..."8" Max... Hatton's More like an "8" In SPEED" & Quickness...Castillo was Rated Correctly N this Regard... How could ANYBODY Rate Castillo's STAMINA a "7"???...When's the Last Time he Looked Visibly FATIGUED N a Fight??...He's @ Least EVEN w/Hatton N that Regard & Arguably BETTER...Castillo's Stamina is More PROVEN,N REED's Opinion... REED Pretty Much Agrees w/the Other Categories... Bottom Line,Castillo's Gonna WIN...On PAPER AND IN the Ring... REED
I think Hatton's stamina is overrated and defense is underrated, both due to one tactic... He HOLDS LIKE HELL in the second half of his recent fights. His punch output goes down, and he doesn't get hit as often. I doubt he'll change his tune for a known durable and rugged opponent who can also be rough.
My breakdown of this fight is that I see it similar to Taylor-Chavez. No, I'm not comparing these two to Taylor & Chavez in terms of quality, not even close. However, Hatton has a clear edge in handspeed which will enable him to win many exchanges, and rounds, BUT Castillo's short inside punching of Ricky will eventually take its toll. That coupled with the body attack that Castillo is sure to invest in. I honestly dont think Hatton hits hard enough to hurt Castillo, this is a man who for the most part took the best Chico had to dish out, and Hatton's power isnt on par with Diego's. Ricky has a tough chin too, its not that that'll give out, but his skin will. And his body will eventually break down physically from Castillo's accurate short punching, and non-stop being on him. Hatton is a spurt fighter, but Castillo once he starts cooking is non-stop pressure. That'll take Ricky out his game, and force him to fight when he doesnt want to. Castillo shouldnt attack Hatton, not at first anyway. I think he should use his jab, and let Ricky lead, and use his counter hook. Cause when Hatton throws his right hand, its sloppy and slapping, and he's open for a counter hook. Castillo has a damn good one and if he's still sharp, and fresh, he can catch Ricky with it and hurt Ricky. Once the mid rounds pick up, Castillo should then start to apply pressure, when Ricky wants to rest up. Dig the body hard, and continue punching when Ricky clinches. If the fight goes as I expect, but the 9th or 10th round, Ricky will be spent and just absorbing punishment.
If Collazzo can BADLY Hurt Hatton,REED gives Castillo an even BETTER Chance of Hurting Hatton... REED
After seeing Urango hurt Hatton to the body, it made me wonder how he will handle the sustained body attack that Castillo is gonna give him.
I thought it was a good decision. I had it 6-6. With the KD in the first round, I thought Hatton deserved it by a point.
Not Necessarily... YES,it's the Most LIKELY Scenario, but Castillo WOULD NEVER B on the Brink of Being DROPPED &/or KO'ed @ ANY Point of the Fight... Hatton CAN'T Say that... REED
I guess we'll have to see. I don't have a problem with people picking Castillo to win a decision... or ever a stoppage on cuts. I just can't see him knocking Hatton out.
Ricky may cut but has never been stopped on cuts, Castillo has been stopped due to cuts something like 4 times if memory serves me, so I'd say the skin could be a problem for either of them.
Wow. We will see what happens, but I think Castillo is a shadow of the guy that gave Floyd two good fights, though I had Floyd winning both comfortably.
With all the wars Castillo has been in and the way he killed himself to always try and make weight you could be right about Castillo and we should find that out tonight. To bad I have to work so I'll have to record it and watch it in the morning, I just have to stay strong and not hit the web in the middle of the night so see the results.
