That's right folks I am here to give Ricky Hatton the credit he deserves. Not only that I have been so wrong about this guy. He did what he had to do last night, but not only that he did it with a big ko. Boys and girls Ricky Hatton could possibly be the greatest MMA boxer of all-time. What do I mean by calling him the greatest MMA boxer of all-time. Simple all the dude does is hold and hit. Or should I say grapple and hit. The only difference between Chuck Liddell and some of the other MMA dudes is that he does not take his guys to the ground and put them in submission holds. This is Ricky Hatton's strategy rush in hold and hit with hand that is not being held. He doesn't throw jabs and he doesn't throw combinations. Well except for the combinations when he grapples his opponents. People wonna talk shit about PBF's boxing style and claim that it's not pleasing to the eye and that his boxing style is ruining boxing. Well shit Ricky Hatton's MMA style is also killing boxing. Just a quick question, does Ricky Hatton spar with boxers who box professionally or MMA dudes where he can work on his grappling. This may sound like I'm hating but I'm not. I was huge Hatton detractor as well.. He sold me last night on the fact that he is actually a solid fighter. I think the 'hook and hold' reputation is a little hyperbolized. He was ripping punches in there and looked extremely motivated. Regardless of how washed up Castillo may have been, there aren't too many 140-147 pounders that would make him quit with a body shot..
I don't like the clinching either. But, he did it less this fight than the previous 2. Not only that, but he does punch in and out of the clinch.
which is impressive, i just rewatched it, and his punching out of a hold is some of the best i ever seen, reminded me of bernard vs keith holmes, like holyfield does a nice punch and hold, but i dont think he punches off the hold as well as hatton
You're overreacting. I thought the holding was pretty bad when I watched a shitty live stream, today I rewatched it in good quality and the holding was nowhere near as bad as I thought. He held much less than his last 2 fights and took Castillo out with a sick shot.
There was alot more clinching left in Hatton last night...too bad Castillo had to take a shit and didn't want to get up.....

Only reason Hatton's performance didn't degenerate into an unwatchable clinch-fest is because he managed to stop Castillo early. I'm all doom and gloom. I can't believe that not only did Castillo lose, but he was stopped. I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd lost a decision, but the fact that Hatton stopped him was a shock.
Hatton is what he is. 3 yards and a cloud of dust. He's great at what he does and is able to maximize his skills while neutralizing his opponents skills. Still does Hatton spar with MMA guys? I'll Holla 5000
