Now he's definitely not Panamanian, he's not as good defensively, and initiates more of the clinches, but my goodness does Ricky Hatton fight like Roberto Duran.

I said this 3 years ago leading into the Tszyu fight and got punished by some members of this board for making the comparison, but if there was one guy Hatton reminds me of, its Duran. He's active, he bores in, he's got a wide range of punches on the inside and he keeps coming and coming for the duration of the fight.

It is a style that is almost impossible to beat IMO, and unless Floyd comes back to 140 and has the day of his life, Hatton will not lose at 140 in the foreseeable future.

The problem might be motivation (as was the case with Duran), but if Hatton comes into a fight consistently the way he has for his two biggest fights (castillo and tszyu) he's gonna reign for a long long time.

gimme a break. Duran fought like an artist. Hatton fights like a school-boy bully. and when he couldn't do it at 147, he moved back down, having no craft to fall back on.

the guy's a hack. comparing him to Duran is laughable.

Hatton is an extremely tough physical fighter with good handspeed and a difficult style but its not impossible to beat I think. It just takes a slick boxer w/ good footwork. Now its not like these guys grow on trees either but he's not unbeatable.

He's not Roberto Duran but I guess I understand where Jaws is going with that comparison.

I think its funny that a Castillo fan likens Hatton to a Bully.

The guy is the best 140lber I've ever seen besides Pryor and Tszyu. Mark my words if he stays at 140 I'll take any reasonable bets with anyone in favor of hatton for the next 5 years barring injury.

The guy is the same guy I picked to beat Tszyu years ago, and will dominate for a long time.

Hatton CAN'T even Carry his Style Up 7 Lbs...Duran was "DURAN" THRU Jr. Middleweight...

There's a SUPERFICIAL Similarity, like DeLa & Alexis Arguello but Not a GENUINE One...

and not only a slick boxer, but one who can keep Hatton honest (a DeJesus type) while boaring in. The way Hatton smothers punches is very effective, and with his activity, its gonna take a very disciplined and active counterpuncher to do him in.

let's see him fight a puncher at 140 outside of Vegas.

Paulie might give him a good fight too.

their styles are very similar, although Hatton likes to lead with his left hook to the head more, and Duran would often close distance with lead rights and left hooks to the body (a ridiculous but effective manuever)

    Big Deal:dunno: ...

It's a SHIT Division...It was a GIVEN that if Hatton Beat Castillo there was NATHAN Else @ 140 to Threaten him...Castillo was the ONLY "Big" Fight to B Made @ 140...

NOW,Hatton'll have to Move Up OR Wait for Juan Diaz to Become a STAR,for that NEXT "Big" Fight...

I'm not saying Hatton was as good, simply that he's comparable in style and has similar tools.

i think Duran had 10 times the skills Hatton did. he could jab and box, and he threw in combination much better, and he was much more of an accurate puncher.

Again, there's SUPERFICIAL Similarities...Just like REED "Sorta" Looks like EVERY Bald,Blackman that's Come Down the Pike...

From Shaq to Webber to Jordan to Holyfield,REED has Been Told "You Look JUST Like" Each & Everyone of them:rolleyes: ...

Duran had MORE Power,BETTER Chin,BETTER Jab,More DELIBERATE Footwork,BETTER Combination Puncher,BETTER Workrate,TOUGHER Less Sensitive SKIN,More FEROCITY(Hatton's WANES Over the Course of a Bout),MUCH Better Defense (He didn't Shoulder Roll, but Similar to Mayweather,Duran ALWAYS Kept his Right Glove N a Protective Position)...

When's Hatton EVER Rolled w/Punches like Duran did???...When's Hatton EVER Studied & BAITED an Opponent...When's the Last Time Hatton Beat a GOOD Fighter that he WASN'T Stronger than???:dunno: ...

Your Analogy Isn't COMPLETELY OffBase, but it's a SUPERFICIAL Similarity, N REED's Opinion...Again,DeLa SOMETIMES Looks like Arguello to REED...Floyd SOMETIMES Resembles Pernell Whittaker...

    SUPERFICIAL...

Ignoring knowledge and indulging in echolocation.
Duran did everything better, EXCEPT for the footwork, Hatton has extremely lethal feet, that's his only one true great attribute.

Hatton's a jerk for holding so much :shit:

I think Hatton is very strong at 140 and I see where Jaws is going in posing the comparison. Obviously we really don't know but in five years we might be looking back in retrospect.

I picked Hatton to beat Zoo and had thought him to be superb until his career started to flounder IMO.

We need to see him in a fight with a guy who is strong enough to handle him and if he wants greatness and not Joe Calziginess he has to be able to fight at a higher weight class. He either is strong enough to fight higher, or is not that great IMO. I also question his stamina.

Having said that I think he could be Floyd's Duran... and this fight could be a lot tougher for Floyd than people think.

Pac Man is way more comparable in styles to a young Duran ...

Hatton fights nothing like Duran especially if you compare him to the 135 version ....

I think Pacman is a mix of Duran/Pryor.

Ricky Fatton is more like John Ruiz but hits way better off the hug.

Hatton is a left hook artist
Duran is a overhand right artist
Hatton has no defense to speak of
    Duran was excellent defensively
    Hatton holds a lot
Duran couldn't stand clinching because he wanted to smash his opponents face in

The comparisons are amazingly alike, thanks Jaws.

Let me guess, Hatton would've smoked Duran because you hate old guys right?

It seems your whole purpose in life is to try and discredit boxers of the past or history, were you beaten by a gang of old time boxers or something?
