I think Holy can beat Sultan..

Well, Sultan did destroy Briggs in the lopsided decision sense..

But it matters not, because even an out of shape, asthmatic, steriod junkie like the Shannon Briggs that fought Sultan would beat the living crap out of Holyfield.

At the very least, Briggs still has legitimate HW power and 270 pounds behind him. Evander has nothing but faded boxing skills and an all but meaningless warrior's mentality.

Usually more often than not, boxing analysts identify themselves (all of them as far as I know), but I guess you don't want to go there, and that's ok as we are not going to worry about that.
We will see what happens, ok?
I will say this; usually anyone that calls a fighter's "Warriors Mentality" meaningless has no background in boxing 95 percent of the time, and that's ok.
Let's see what the future holds for the faded ring great and the present day heavyweight title claimant that is a very poor fighter, ok?

Boxing analyst?

Thanks.. I was just posting my opinion, but then again, I guess that's exactly what a boxing analyst does also.

And whether I have any background in boxing or not, I know that a warrior's mentality is meaningless if you don't have the reflexes, stamina or power to back it up.. At this point Holyfield doesn't.

I'd also like to offer you a little more of my opinion. Just because a person has participated in a sport at some level doesn't make them a better judge about who might win a matchup involving other participants. If that were the case I would seek Holyfield's advice before making any boxing bets. That would pretty stupid, huh?

Let's say, for example, that I played college football back in the 80's. Would that make me a better judge of who was going to win the National Championship last year. The answer: HELL NO.

When it comes to analyzing matchups we are all offering our opinions based on what we think. You are no different. And your ring experience, however vast or limited, is meaningless when it comes to prognosticating on future bouts.

 

I guess that means duran, armstrong, robinson and ali all have tarnished legacies

I agree with Neil. Regardless of what happens to Holy from here on, it doesnt effect his legacy. He WAS a great fighter, 10 years ago.:: He's been shot for the last 7 years now, how does that effect his legacy?

 

I don't think it affects his legacy but to the average fan there might be a difference looking at his record. From having 3-4 losse to possibly having 10 or more depending on how much more he fights.

 

Neil makes a good point and perhaps 'legacy' isn't the right word..

 

This is the only problem I have with Karl. Other than this mentality, he seems OK.
