    Dan Rafael:

Gerardo, Chicago, IL: Dan. Have you heard anything about a possible bout of the Ghost Guerrero agains Rocky Juarez? I know Golden Boy wants to get Juarez a title shot soon.

Dan Rafael: (2:40 PM ET ) Yes, they are talking about that fight and it could happen this fall. One thing that has to be ironed out is Shelly Finkel's role. He manages both sides and has to work things out.

Wow! What a fight? I'd be somewhat afraid of Guerrero's height though, if I were Juarez. Anyone know how tall Robert is?

Plus Robert's work-rate means basically that Rocky would need a knock-out to win, which isn't a stretch, but it is clear he probably wouldn't win a decision.

Juarez SUCKS. he did well vs. Barrera in the first fight (a testment to show that barrera's done) and hasn't done shit since. i thought his last fight could've been a draw or a win for the other guy.

    He's not tall, double L.
I met him in Corpus at the Pacquiao fight, and he's a little bitty guy.
    He's taller than Juarez, though.

Robert's pretty tall for the division (arond 5'8), which makes him probably at least 3 inches taller than Juarez. His problem is he doesn't use it...though he's supposedly using the jab more under Roach (though I haven't seen any tapes of the Abazi fight).

Though he's rail thin, Guerrero's tough, he'll stay inside and brawl more than he should and he's always dedicated to body punching (and doesn't mind going low while he's at it)...but fighting inside is the wrong way to fight Juarez.

If he fights Juarez like he did most of the fight agains Salido, he'll probably get knocked out.

Hopefully Roach can have him fighting smarter for this fight.

that's right. i forgot all about the Salido fight. seriously. many of the lessons you'd think Guerrero would've learned against Salido can be effectively applied against Juarez.

I didn't know he was that tall, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was. He'll be much taller than Juarez, whatever the numbers say.

says on Boxrec that he's 5'8". still, 5'8" is pretty tall for feather-weight. and Juarez is short for the weight too.

plus, regardless of his height, Guerrero is definitely rangy as far as his build.

The thing is, Robert had some success (somewhere around rounds 3-5) by boxing, but he went away from it.

Robert has the ability to box and use his height more, but perhaps Bray wasn't the right one to bring that out. He said before and after the Abazi fight that he was throwing the jab more with Roach training him...it's something that he has to be dedicated to.

If Robert is 5'10, then I'm six ft.
I am 5'8 and I was looking down on him.

Juarez has technical skills, but he's too patient in there.

He's like a superior featherweight version of Dominick Guinn.

Wrong or both of you guys must have been wearing heels. I saw "The Ghost" in Vegas before and Karl is right, the guy is around 5'7 or so.

That's actually a pretty good comparison.
More pop than Guinn pfp, but I see your point.

yeah. one thing i always liked about Guerrero were his left-hands to the body. whatever Roach has him doing, hopefully it doesn't involve dispensing with that very effective shot. his kind of reminds me of a vintage Jirov body-shot, which is a definitely dominant weapon.

I agree. He completely changed the course of his rematch with Diaz when he started going back to the body in the middle rounds.

I'd pick Juarez to win via left hook to the body and a straight right down the pipe, similar to how he dismantled Jason Pires

It looks like this fight could end up on the Marquez-Barrios pay per view.

The fight card needs a good undercard fight like this, IMO.

In fact, I think it would go from a mediocre (at best) card to one of the better ones of the year if this fight is included with Ouma-Mora and Bojado-Forbes.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    From Dan Rafael:

"Juarez is expected to get a mandatory shot against Robert Guerrero in the fall, possibly on the Sept. 15 Marquez-Barrios HBO PPV card."

Juarez is ploddy and lacks fire. he's also become a boring and monotonous. i dont think much of casper either, but he'll probably win.

Mind you, I'm a fan of Rocky Juarez but I seriously hope this is an off-TV bout.

I'm not particularly interested in taking the time out to watch another Rocky Juarez fight.
