SO I WAS HEARING THINGS BOUT RECORDS BEING BROKEN AND THIS CAME TO MIND, DOES ANYONE THINK THAT THIS RECORD WILL EVER BE BROKEN? IS THERE ANY FIGHTER CURRENTLY THAT CAN DO IT? I THINK THAT IN MY OPINION IF IT IS GANNA BE BROKEN ITS GANNA BE IN ONE OF THOSE LIGHTER WEIGHT CLASSES LIKE MINIMUMWEIGHT...BUT ANYTHING ABOVE BANTAMWEIGHT IS PRETTY IMPOSSIBLE ESPECIALLY WITH PPL MOVING UP CONSTANTLY...WHAT DO U GUYS THINK?
Unbreakable It's a record comparable to Nolan Ryan's strikeout record and also his no-hitter record that will never be broken. It was the most dominant championship reign in sports history by the Greatest Fighter Ever, IMO.
well if anyone fights the calibur of garbage he fought, then I think they will. Calzaghe's got how many now?...thats a comparable situation
WITH THE BEING SAID WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON BERNARD HOPKINS HAVING THE MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE DEFENSE RECORD FROM CARLOS MONZON WHEN HE FACED ALOT OF THE TIME WEAK COMP. UNTIL VERY CLOSE TO THE END?
well I think Monzon clearly fought much better opposition, but any hatred ive ever had for him went out the window the day he bitchslapped Antonio Tarver for being a milk dud
I don't envision there being the circumstances where a fighter will make 20+ defenses of an unisputed championship in the forseeable future. Winning and defending a portion of the world title is not the same thing.
U KNOW WHAT, THAT IS A VERY VERY VERY GOOD POINT, I REALLY DIDNT EVEN THINK OF IT, LOUIS WAS THE LEGIT AND ONLY HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, IF THAT LOGIC IS TO BE USED THEN THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE RECORD CAN BE BROKEN...
I doubt it gets broken any time soon. I believe Ricardo Lopez tied Joe's record for title defenses but achieving a record like that will always be way more difficult at heavyweight than any other division. Also it's much easier when there are multiple titles. All you have to do is have one of them and defend it. When there is only one champion and rating system you can't cherry pick your opponents. Louis' resume isn't the most impressive but the record still is. Not a lot of guys could defend a title for that many years. All it takes is one off night, and the possibility of upset is increased very much so at Heavyweight.
TRUE... @ VARIOUS Times of Calzaghe's Reign, there's Been OTHER,Arguably MORE DESERVING Guys ALSO Holding Belts & Calzaghe NEVER Fought them... There wasn't ANYBODY Else Claiming to B "The Heavyweight Champion of the World",when Joe Louis Rattled Off 25 Defenses... Even if Calzaghe DOES Surpass Louis' 25,it's NOT More Impressive... REED
I highly doubt anyone will ever beat this record. Fighters eventually won't even fight 25 times before retirement. It seems that most fighters today just build themselves up for the huge payday and then lose the drive to fight.
Calzagne was never even undeniably the best fighter in his division...he still isn't ________ COSMETIC SURGERY ADVICE
