Ok, I have alot of friends who think Ivan will taste defeat for the first time when he fights Cazares. I would like to get your thoughts on this fight. I think Ivan is moving up in weight to fight Hugo. The main reason why alot are picking against Ivan is because his lack of power to back Hugo off him.

    Who wins?

    Iron Boy Victory

Hugo is good, but "Iron Boy" is better.
    Calderon W 12.

some of the puerto rican press members had told me that calderon would get stretched if he fought cazares.

cazares can crack and is not a bad boxer himself. tough fight to call.

I agree, My biggest concern is Calderons lack of power. If he cant get Hugo's respect he could be in big trouble.

Cazarez by KO. Calderon has nothing to get his respect and if you pressure well enough he does break down a bit later in some of the fights (examples are against Verde and apparently Barrera).

You have a very good point, We have seen Calderon wearing down against Pressure. This will be a good test for Calderon. If only he had power...........

Calderon has power, he isn't a knockout hitter, but he has power.
I think he stings these guys hard enough to keep them honest, and that is how he is going to control ring centre vs. Hugo and win on points.
Remember; Ivan was fightbeat's most underrated fighter of 2006, and for good reason.
The kid can fight, and has the heart and will of a true champion.
I think Iron Boy will wind up in the IBHOF eventually just like another great southpaw, Flash Elorde.
Both are similar in that they were somewhat underappreciated and underexposed to the world viewing audience during their respective heydays, and both were criticised by being somewhat too defensive at times in key fights.
Two great boxers that pissed some fight buffs off at times by sticking strictly to boxing, Virgil Hill falls into that category as well, IMO.
Regardless, Calderon wins here by several points and further cements his legacy as one of Puerto Rico's Best Ever.

I don't mind a boxer. However up until this fight Calderon's competition has been shit. That's what I don't like about him. Good luck to him though against Cazarez he will need his track shoes for this fight.

Cazares might be to powerful for Calderon. But if Calderon can stay away he can outbox him. REally a toss up fight.
